Hockley Valley Resort - Golf, Spa and Ski
Hockley doesn’t honour own gift cards. My kids were gifted Hockley GC for skiing and the resort was unable to honour them online, over the phone or in person due to an issue on the resorts end. I was asked to pay up front for skiing when I arrived and assured multiple times I would be contacted the next day for reimbursement of the $200 of GC. No one has ever contacted me. I have phoned and emailed multiple times over 1.5 weeks and no one answers or returns my calls. I have had to file a complaint with the better business bureau in the hopes of getting a refund. Appalling customer service to penalize a customer for the resort’s system error. And really, what kind of business can’t redeem their own gift cards???? Steer clear.

At the “resort” for a conference this weekend. Very disappointed in the experience of this resort. My hotel room had no air conditioning. I asked them repeatedly to fix it and they said they did but every time I went to my room it was hotter than before. The only thing the air conditioner in the room did was work as a fan. Picture shows AC set to 64 (in hopes it would cool) and the room at 74. By the time I left the room it was up to 76. It never got cooler. They never offered another solution. They never offered to change rooms or do anything to make my stay comfortable.I travel a lot around the world and it is not worth the money they are charging here. The rooms are outdated and like I said the air conditioner didn’t work. The fridge in the room also didn’t work.We had a dinner in the tent on the Saturday night. Food was fine but service sucked. There was no one around to refill water or take drink orders. There was also no lighting in the tent so it got dark as the sun started to set over dinner. I have no issue going to the bar to get a drink but I expect water to be accessible and there wasn’t even pitchers on the table for self service. Same for the conference. We had to consistently remind them to refill hot water at the station and refill pitchers at the tables. The manager when I complained tried to tell me that as I was here for a conference they were not able to do anything to to help which I find unacceptable as me booking my room and paying for it was done separately from the conference. I am their direct customer. After much back and forth they offered 10% which I took but due to how much of a fight it was to get even that it does not feel acceptable.Overall I do not recommend this placeI had a good weekend with my conference people but will never return here and know there are TONS of significantly better places you can attend.

TLDR: Weren't provided enough rooms because of over booking, incompetent wedding planner that refused to work weekends, rehearsal dinner in a boiling hot room, staff wouldn't set everything up unless you called them out, reception area smelled like sewage and staff refused to fix the problem. Overall, DO NOT HAVE YOUR WEDDING HERE!I recently had the misfortune of hosting my wedding at Hockley Valley, and I must say that it was an absolute nightmare I wouldn't wish this experience on my worst enemy, and I strongly advise any engaged couples to steer clear of this venue. The issues began with reserving hotel rooms for our guests. We told them at the time of booking Hockley for our wedding that all of our guests would be coming from out of town and that we would need approximately 20 rooms. They said this shouldn't be a problem but told us to fill up 8 rooms first and then they would give us more. We quickly filled the 8 rooms and asked for more only for them to come back and say that they booked another wedding and a conference on the same day so there were no more rooms available. We were forced to get rooms at hotels as far away as Bolton and pay extra to shuttle guests from these hotels to Hockley. THEN, two weeks before the wedding Hockley decided to tell us ONLY BECAUSE WE ASKED, that there isn't another wedding on the same night and rooms were available. But no one bothered to let us know.To make matters worse, our new wedding planner had her own personal wedding planning business outside of Hockley Valley which she did Fridays to Sundays, meaning that she did not work with Hockley Valley on the weekends.... when most weddings occur. It's mind-boggling that Hockley hired someone that would choose not to be available on the busiest days for weddings. Consequently, this meant that she was absent on the day of our wedding, leaving us stranded and unsupported. The rehearsal dinner was quite a disaster as well. We were forced to endure sweltering heat in a room that felt like a sauna. The lack of air conditioning was not only uncomfortable for us but also for our guests, who were left sweating throughout the entire event. It was incredibly disappointing that the venue couldn't even provide basic comfort for such an important pre-wedding gathering.Furthermore, it was shocking how the venue continuously neglected their responsibilities. We had to repeatedly ask the staff to set up crucial items for the ceremony which they were clearly responsible for and our wedding planner should have organized but without her there to guide the staff when things went wrong, my fiancé and I were forced to constantly check on the ceremony space to make sure things were set up properly. Their lack of attention to detail and consistent negligence only added unnecessary stress and frustration to an already chaotic day.But the WORST problem of them all was the reception hall which was plagued by a repugnant sewage smell that permeated the entire space. As my family was setting up the space they noticed this horrendous smell and alerted the Hockley staff. Finally after asking someone to come speak with them twice, a representative finally came down only to say this is a problem we've been having" and proceeded to tell my family that there was nothing they were going to do. Only after telling them that it's absolutely unacceptable that they do nothing

The rooms could really use a good deep cleaning (you'll see what I mean if you check behind any of the beds- the dust is thick!) and an update (the hallway/stairwell carpets are very worn with lots of stains). Although we did have one of the nicest views from a corner room overlooking the firepits and ski hills. My daughters both had a private lesson (one snowboarding and one skiing) and I would just like to say what a great skiing instructor Peter was with my 9 year old; she loved him- after one hour she could turn, stop and was going down the bigger runs.My 12 year old had Lucas for snowboarding and it seemed to be going well until he asked her to go down the run backwards putting weight on her toes. He went behind her talking to her so when she looked behind to hear him she fell hard on her wrist and ended up having to have a sling, ending our day early- now waiting on x-rays to see if its broken (speaking to them from behind should maybe be reviewed so no one else gets hurt). Also, more staff and/or better organization in the Lesson/Rental/Lift ticket building would make for a better Guest experience- at 9am there was a line out the door to sign up for lessons, get rentals and lift tickets as there was only 1 employee (separate lines would be faster as some people are not getting rentals or lessons). There were Rental Agreement sheets on the ledge to be filled out before you got to the desk for faster service, but there was 1 pen for about 30 people filling out the forms.Zoo To You was a big hit with both kids- great idea!Tristan also needs a shout out in the 85 restaurant- he was awesome! As well as the male bartender in 85 that worked Tuesday night (didn't catch his name)- tall, with short dark hair (his Pumpkin Spice Martinis were out of this world).A few tweaks and upgrades would make this resort 5 stars.

I had an okay experience at this resort in the summer. It is a beautiful place, indoor and outdoor pool, dry sauna, jacuzzi, we had complimentary all you can eat breakfast. My biggest complaint was that we stayed during the weekend hoping to have a nice quiet peaceful evening in and being a light sleeper heard the couple next door to us arguing, fighting, screaming, moaning, making love? Other than that I would come here again but request not to be beside any wedding parties. The room was non smoking, but of course wedding parties still smoked and the smell travelled from our balcony to the inside of the room which was not pleasant. I took advantage of the fitness facility as well.Room service wasn’t that great. Food was mediocre. The room was okay. It was clean, showers clean. No complaints about the room but only the room next to us made a lot of noise.

Though a late post but a great place to head for skiing. The trainers were superb. Ample learning area for practice for beginners. Food court had good options to wind up. The drive to the resort was also scenic

My first time playing golf here with an early morning tee time but sprinklers were still on throughout the whole course. For 113$ for a round, I would expect to not be shooting onto greens and through fairways with water spraying everywhere and soaking us. Even happened on the tee box a few times while lining up to shoot. All was quiet and then multiple sprinklers coming out of the blue spraying all of us in the group. And to top it all off then having to drive down the cart path getting sprayed. Why were the sprinklers on?Not something I would expect when paying a price like this for a round.

The service at Hockley is amazing, as is the golfing! The rooms left a lot to be desired. We had the bridal suite booked for our two night stay. The space was very limited. The furniture was rather worn. The mirror lights didn't work. When taking a shower in the large shower, I ended up standing in a couple of inches of water as the water wasn't draining properly. For a bridal suite, the lighting was awful. The only full-length mirror was up the stairs with the bed. The mirrors above the bathroom sinks were tiny, and the lights were dark and dingy. Wallpaper was peeling off. The drinks at the bar were quite pricey, and many of our guests complained that they didn't seem to have the correct amount of alcohol. The table that our guests were sat at was sticky, and no matter how many times it was wiped, it did not improve. I imagine the cause was humidity but certainly an oversight. Serveral of our guests complained their air conditioner wasn't working. Others had problems with the plumbing. One of our guests was checked out by someone else, and their card charged. We booked at Hockley Resort because we were getting married at Adamo Winery. Again the staff was amazing but the facilities needed a lot of work.
