Really enjoyed the experience of bidding in a timed online auction. Shipping was an easy process and the staff were a pleasure to deal with when making inquiries about an etching I was interested in. Some gems to be found if you know where to look.

They do not disclose the price to ship until after you win an auction. The first auction I participated in, I won a small wooden box for less than $7. The delivery company contracted through 888 Auctions quoted me $95 for shipping and handling. When I emailed both the shipping company and 888 Auctions to complain, neither responded.The second auction I participated in said that the local pickup was in my home state (NJ), so I decided to bid again knowing that I could avoid the ridiculous s&h fees by doing a local pickup (according to the terms of the auction, they would send the pickup location and times shortly after the auction). After the auction closed, my credit card was charged the next day for over $430, but I did not receive an invoice or a location/time for pickup.After waiting, I emailed to inquire about both, to which they responded with an invoice and said the shipping company would be in touch with me. I emailed back saying (again) that I did not need shipping, that I wanted to do a local pickup. Several days went by with no response.At this point I checked online and saw that several other customers had similar complaints, so I called my bank to contest the charge. My bank notified me that if 888 Auctions contacted them, they would remove the hold and we could work on it from there.Finally, 888 Auctions sent me the pickup information, so I scheduled a pickup time. When I went to the pickup site, I went to pull up my invoice and saw that there was a last minute email saying that because of the hold, they were canceling my pickup. I contacted them back asking if they responded to my bank, because they would lift the hold. 888 Auctions refused to contact my bank, and said they would have to recharge my card. I also questioned them about the $95 s&h fee in the wood box for the first auction. They said the lowest they could go was $80. This is a bait and switch, with extremely shady business practices. I ended up keeping the holds in place and notifying them that I would not be doing business with them.Then they had the gall to send an email asking me to leave a good review for a 5% discount. This business is not worth the headache.

I can't speak to the authenticity of their more rare" works. I got what I paid for. However

Do not truwt this company. After winning a bid, they only sent half the merchendise and fail resposnd to any email. The person on the phone is of no help either.

I won Lot 79, Lot 82, Lot 83 and Lot 85 in an 888 Auctions. These Chinese porcelain items were no reserved prices, and I won them after bidding with others. However, 888 Auctions refused to give the four items to me. The 888 Auctions can not be trusted.My response to the response:Their response said: “your registration was refused…” , which is not true. My registration was successfully, that’s why I could bid and won the 4 items. I will post my registration’s screenshot or request the auction platform to investigate it and show my successful registration record. 888 Auctions told a lie, and their staff often tell lies, a very bad company culture.I consigned some items to 888 Auctions. After several years, 888 Auctions did not sell then or return them to me. When I requested 888 Auctions to those items to me, they request me to sign a “Request to Return of Inventory form” with conditions I never have agreed, Please see the image of this form, which says:“By signing below I agree to the following:I agree that my request for the return of inventory below is subject to an immediate non-refundable$35 handling fee. This is applicable to items that have not been picked up within six (6) months after its consignment.I agree that items which have not been picked up within two (2) years will be subject to a $25 per month storage fee for each item found as a result of this request for return of inventory form.I accept that there is no guarantee items that have not been picked up within two (2) years will be found by the auction house.All requests for the return of inventory must be accompanied by the original signed and dated Consignment Order Form.”According to the above terms, 888 Auctions won’t have to sell any consigned items for you and never return them to you, either.

Horrible!!!!We purchased a baseball card from them for over $1200, and when it arrived in the US, we discovered it to be COUNTERFEIT!We contacted them to return it, were told someone would get back to us in 24 hrs, but no one ever did!Now, we have to file a FRAUD complaint with Mastercard to get our money back.Importing and Exporting COUNTERFEIT goods is a serious crime.Avoid this firm like the Plague!

Caveat Emptor. Those who understand how auctions work and have developed an eye for art will be rewarded. Purchased a rare and playful scene by the Italian artist Carlo Canevari. It lacked the provenance which is probably why it didn't exceed the high estimate. (The team at 888 got back to me regarding the provenance and were able to provide additional information that they had come across ... excellent followup). I am quite impressed by their service. Prompt responses and excellent shipping services by their preferred shipper at PakShip.

Among dozens of auction houses I often deal with - This auction house truly operates to the highest standards and stands out in the industry. As a collector you can trust them 100% because they care about their reputation. I won an amazing marble screen at a very low price that is 80% below their consignor's reserve. Instead of voiding the transaction like most venues would do, they honored the sold price and as a result I got a very good deal. Their integrity and business ethics are what all auction houses should learn from.
