McPherson Playhouse

Beautiful theatre, small in size and have good views even from the back. If you have mobility issues (wheelchair specially) be aware that there is very little room to accommodate your needs.

They need to step up their game with lighting! It's a beauty venue, but stage lighting is woefully inadequate. Giant screen in the background, only changes muted colors. I'm sure the technology is there. Just seems they do not use it. Like watching a concert at an aging Legion.

The production of Fiddler on the Roof was incredible. This is a beautiful venue to visit.

Saw of production by Saint Michaels university, school of fiddler on the roof. Excellent production very well done. Thanks to the generous family that gave up their seat so that I could be comfortable.

Came to see Rocky Horror Picture Show and thoroughly enjoyed it. Very well done production and a lot of effort was put in by the cast and crew. Everyone working the front end was friendly and greeted everyone pleasantly. I look forward to seeing another play here in the future.

Saw 5440 and they were fantastic. The staff at the facility were super friendly and helpful. The place was clean and orderly. The band was fun and the light show was excellent. Victoria should be proud of this facility and the Royal. We love them both

The McPherson Playhouse, known as The Mac, is a theatre and concert hall in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Part of the Centennial Square complex on the north side of downtown Victoria, adjacent to the intersection of Pandora and Government streets across from the CTV Vancouver Island studios and the Victoria City Hall, it was originally built as a Pantages Theatre in 1914. In the 1960s it was donated, with supporting funding for its renovation, to the people of Victoria by Thomas Shanks McPherson. It became part of the Centennial Square redevelopment, finished in 1965. Renovations preserved and refurbished the Neo-Baroque auditorium but added a modern lobby and various technical improvements.

Went to a comedy show that was brilliantly split between McPherson and Royal due to 50% capacity restrictions. Comedy was good. Loved checking out the early 1900's opulence inside the theatre. Very little leg room-felt like an airplane situation.
