Avis Car Rental

The service in the Avis store when we picked our car up was amazing. Patricia was so kind and worked effectively. We had our car within ten minutes as the Organisation was so good. Unfortunately we needed to call the hotline once because of an issue and there was literally no chance to speak to someone who could have helped. I called them 5 times and five different people gave me five different numbers and finally I gave up. If you would have had a serious issue than you would feel definitely lost.Besides of that the car was (as written already in previous reviews) not completely clean and there was a weird smell inside. The process itself was nevertheless fine.

For the love of all that is holy, use caution before attempting to rent a car here. We had reserved a car months ahead of time at this Avis in Vancouver on Hornby. We arrived to get the car after disembarking from our cruise, and there was a line to the door with a sign saying the estimated waiting time may be up to two hours!We had already left a large non-refundable deposit so we were stuck waiting. After we had been waiting 45 minutes they suddenly told us they were out of cars! Grr! We had very limited time in Vancouver and time was wasted.So we walked over to the Hyatt Regency and rented a car from Access located inside their lobby. Very nice employees there, we got a car right away!

I had a rental reserved for 8AM, I showed up 10 minutes early as I had read reviews claiming there could be long wait times. I was first in line before the office opened at 8AM, with a few people showing up shortly after me. Once the office opened, my reservation was quickly processed by the employee and I had the keys to my car 3 minutes later. Return was just as quick. Only downside is that there are no after hours returns at this location.

Everything was fine with my Avis car hire with the annoying exception of the return process. I was directed by the Avis employee at the airport to not park in their spaces but asked to stop in the drive area where he did a quick inspection and checked mileage, he then instructed me to leave it there while he did the same to a couple of cars behind me. He said I should leave it there and take my luggage. Subsequently Avis sent me an invoice for not parking the car, this is an obvious scam and leaves a bad taste following an otherwise excellent experience with Avis.

Car was good, and staff were helpful enough. However, they attempted to charge me for an additional day despite returning the vehicle a couple hours before the scheduled time. I was not notified of this additional charge, so I only noticed it when I was checking my credit card statement. I was able to obtain a refund through Avis customer service, but did not appreciate the extra hassle or the deceptive billing.

We picked up a car at the YVR AIRPORT, with a drop off at this location 24hrs later. I tried to reach this location a few times by telephone on drop off day, but kept getting central reservations. We returned the car and were directed by street signage to go underground to Levels 7 or 8 and park the car there. We circled those levels for a good 10-15 minutes because there was absolutely zero parking spots, AND there were cars lined up and parked in the driving lane and on the ramps! When was the last time they moved cars?? Not an employee in sight to find out what we are supposed to do when there is no parking available. No signage/instructions anywhere. So we went to level 6 and parked the car there. We had NO CHOICE. Got on the elevator to go up to their store on street level. Tried a door and it was locked due to covid". (May 2023 ?) Found our way to the front of the store (they could clearly see I was using a walking aid) and there was nobody inside except for the two employees. I told them I tried calling them and they said they don't answer the phone. I told them about the difficulty we had finding a parking spot and stress leaving a vehicle in an unsure location and they didn't seem to be too worried. ( I took pics to show them where we left the car). We are responsible renters and did not want any surprises..... They took the key fob

My sister and her husband rented a car here months in advance for their honeymoon and upon arrival we’re told they can not rent to them with no explanation. My sister’s husband who booked the car has had no accidents, no tickets, and had never rented a car before this trip. The staff were extremely rude and unaccommodating. They waited over an hour to speak with the manager who refused to give them any explanation as to why they could not rent to them and no compensation. As they were waiting the lady at the front desk said “I don’t know why you’re waiting, you won’t be getting a car.”

Rented a sporty BMW 530 drive to Whistler, very enjoying. Waiting 10 minutes for pickup and no time waiting for return, just top gas, remember/picture your mileage at return. Avis allow you drive 200KM/day for free.

I saw mixed reviews about this location and was hesitant but our experience was great, which is why I wanted to share. Pick up and drop off was easy and there were no problems. We selected the “intermediate” category and were pleasantly surprised that our vehicle was the premium version of the car as well as very clean. Will definitely rent from here again. Thank you!

Easy to get to. A bit of a haul from Canada Place with bags though, so took a taxi there. Staff was efficient. Office is open and well laid out. You don't feel boxed in. And there is a coffee shop right next door, so you're on your way easy as you please. On Hornby is easy to exit from, and probably drop off too as well. (Mind the motor coaches pulling in to the hotel though!)
