I can’t say enough about Hillsdale terrace . It’s a beautiful clean place the staff are wonderful . They do a lot for the residents . We put my mom in there in February 2021 . My mom loves it there she told me that everybody there is good to her and that was her home now . She loves the food there the Recreation Department staff are awesome they do alot with the residents. My moms has made alot of new friends. . All of the office staff are very nice and any concerns of mine they get right back to me . The PSW are so fantastic with all residents they care about every one I’ve seen this many times . I Believe all staff members should get a raise now let’s see if the government keeps there promise.

If you want lousy care, bed sores, open sores on your feet and behind then this is the place to be. Although there are a few good people here there are too many who don't care about your family member including Supervisors and Management. They talk a good story but really do not care. Stay away from this place. An update for you. Since we moved our loved one to another facility the improved care has been so much better. There were no covid case, no covid deaths and our loved one is actually much healthier. There are no more bed sores and he is happier now that he is getting good care. We are so happy that we left Hillsdale Terraces.

I'm sad to see all of the negative reviews, because I just spent 4 days there 24/7 while my grandmother was crossing over and the staff were nothing but amazing and do not deserve the reviews posted here.My grandmother was placed here in 2010 and has lived here for 11 years (on Ocean View) because of her alzheimers and some other ailments. For years I worried that her quality of life was poor due to her alzheimers and being confined to a long term care facility, but my experience with her and staying with her at Hillsdale Terraces at the end of her life has made me feel so comforted. To start with, the staff, no matter which area/unit they were working in, seemed to know her. Even the person doing the COVID screening at the door knew her, the housekeeping staff, staff from other units, etc. She had staff constantly coming to her room to visit with her and say goodbye when they heard that she was on her final journey. Many of them sat with our family and told stories about her time at hillsdale, and I was absolutely blown away to learn that she had actually built this rich life and these relationships with staff and other patients that we were unaware of, having only visited during daytime hours and for a couple of hours at a time. The staff were also diligent in their care, turning and repositioning her every 2 hours, doing good oral care (very important for the dying person), washing her, providing her with pain and respiratory management, and ensuring that she was comfortable in her final days. At times the only way she would respond was if one of her favourite staff stopped in to say hello. The staff also provided for our family, allowing us to essentially move in with her, providing us meals from the kitchen, and tea/coffee/cookies/snacks from a cart kept in my grandmother's room. I overheard much of the daily care for the other residents as well, which seemed to be thoughtfully and respectfully carried out. After my grandmother passed, the nurse who confirmed prior to the doctor pronouncing it cried and told us that my grandmother had been her favourite. They also arranged a Walk of the Angel" ceremony as my grandmother left her home of 11 years for the final time

Every time I've visited my mom at Hillsdale Terraces (my dad is there now too), I've been blown away by how wonderful the staff there are. While chatting with her in her room (more like a small apartment) I've seen staff knock on the door and come in to see how she's doing...usually with coffee/tea/snacks on a cart. They're very professional, friendly and clearly take pride in their work. I'm stunned by how well the place is maintained and cleaned and by all of the activities available to the residents. They even post notices for parties and other events. It feels almost like a country club rather than a long-term healthcare facility (or prison). It's a wonderful place and my mom and dad are extremely lucky to have it as their home.

Please do not leave your loved ones to be cared for in this government run facility. A dear friend of mine trusted that her sweet father would be given wonderful care in this facility and it has been far less than horrific. No living being should be left in soiled bedding, let alone clothing. Thanks to improper care in so many different areas, this sweet man is suffering with horrendous infections and skin breakdown. I cannot even imagine the discomfort he is experiencing.Absolutely despicable and heart wrenching.I am beyond disgusted and highly suggest you find a different facility for your loved ones who are unable to care for themselves.

I am absolutely disgusted with this place. My faith in elderly care is completely gone after hearing about the care received at Hillsdale Terrace. If this is the kind of care we can expect to receive when we get older from a government run operation then please do not let me get old and be put into a place like this. I would rather be dead.

I wouldn’t recommend this home unless you’re looking for top notch care. My aunt is still currently under their care and regarding her hygiene her dental care has been lacking as they haven’t cared for brushing it often to the extent of her teeth decaying etc. I would love for the government to look into this place as it’s very upsetting. They don’t care about the health of the elderly that’s the honest truth.

My mom has been in the terrace for a couple of months and we can not say enough good things about the care, her room and how well she is doing. I'm sure the other reviews had issues but I have not seen or heard one negative thing that would want me to move my mom from this home. Thanks to all the people at Hillsdale Terrace's for the wonderful work that you do. Stay safe.

Sadly this government run facility was chosen for my father, not by myself I might add. My experiance confirms why. My father has been in this home for coming up on 4yrs and it has pretty much been hell the entire time. The quality of care he has received has been less then substandard. There are a few caring psw's sadly not enough to combat the less then caring ones that appear to be there simply for a pay check and not necessarily to care for our loved ones. Our vulnerable sector needs our help and this is not the place for that. My father was placed here as his care became to much to be at home being paralyzed by strokes and then dementia he required 24hr care and we were mistaken to think that would happen here. If you expect even the basics, such as hygeine care ie; hair brushing, teeth cleaned, face wiped, clean hands, clean personal space and perhaps caring compassionate people who are actually there to make a difference in lives of our seniors, please rethink your choice of homes. I have tried to go through the proper channels to Express my displeasure and it appears it has fallen on deaf ears, to say I am extremely disappointed in this home would be and understatement. The care is less then substandard, to the point it is abusive, both physically and verbally. I have a tape of verbal abuse toward my loved one and several pictures to back my review. The scariest part of this whole thing is that being a government run facility this should be the cream of the crop and aesthetically is it very nice, care wise it's the darkest place I have ever been in. Do not let aesthetics fool you, you do NOT want your loved one in this home
