walk-in only, we waited for about 20 minutes before we got a seat at the bar. the restaurant is very small so sitting is limited.beautiful and minimalistic decor, our dinner there was enjoyable! we had a sapporo and some umeshu (plum wine) as well as the chicken tatsuta-age, which was very delicious, the dipping sauce is packing lots of flavour.the udon was good, the noodles had just the right amount of firmness. if you want to try a more unique flavour and broth, I recommend something like the ankake udon, it’s a very thick broth but it was quite delicious and I never tasted anything like it before. if you’re picky with texture don’t think this is for you. the gyunan was everything you can wish for in a hot udon soup, sweet and flavourful, safest choice. the staff is nice and welcoming and it was a great dinner!

Can never go wrong with Raku. Everything is good here!! I think the udon is hand made here, it's so good. Also has a nice interior.

This place is ALWAYS packed and rightfully so!! It’s the most authentic udon I’ve ever tasted. First bite and I already knew.I panicked a bit because I was taking up a table waiting for friends to come by, but the staff was really nice about it TT thank you staffIt’s for sure pricey, but compared to the other udon you can get in Toronto, I definitely don’t mind spending some money for this quality. If you want proof I could tell that if I kept eating I would burn my tongue. And I did. Because I couldn’t stop.Even the side of tempura I got was splendid.I’ll definitely be back- thank you for having me :)

The two stars are for the service and the udon noodle texture. The place is small and crowded when busy. I don’t think the food is worth the price and it really didn’t taste good. I got the tan tan and while the bowl is large, there are only some veggies and ground pork and that’s mostly it. I second one of the reviewers “it’s like a eating challenge”. And the broth just didn’t have much taste. My leftover food was also only packed with a paper bag with some staples so a lot of it spilled out on the way home. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

I can’t stop thinking about Raku after my first visit. It’s a gem of toronto that I could appreciate Japanese appetizers, and I think I don’t even have to mention about their perfect texture of noodle and flavourful soup of udon. the text waiting list was convenient and servers were nice too. I want to visit here at least once a week!

Just really good udon at a very traditional looking restaurant. Highly recommend the beef udon or the chicken udon. The duck breast udon was really good too. The fried eggplant was good but a bit expensive. The servers are very friendly and diligent. Loved the frozen candied grapes at the end!

Delicious! We had the kani ankake and spicy niku with a side of chicken tatsuta-age. The soup was really good. The ankake soup is pretty thick and different than other udon soup I’ve had in the past. The spicy niku wasn’t too spicy, the braised beef was soft, and the tripe was really flavourful. Wished the udon was a bit chewier. Really great service, especially for our toddler. We did wait almost 1h 15 min and were there by 5pm and we were a large group.

Delicious udon and broth! Great service and the atmosphere felt friendly, upscale, and intimate. They are a small place and popular so prepare to wait a bit but it's worth it. The niku in particular was fantastic!
