The Lord Nelson Hotel & Suites

The location of the hotel was so convenient. It was right beside the public garden and minutes away from downtown core and the water front.When I first arrived, I was greeted by a doorman who assisted me to the counter. Fortunately, for me I was able to check in early because there was a room available.The bar located downstairs was aesthetically pleasing in the staff was very kind .Definitely would recommend and definitely would stay here again .

The location is great, close to restaurants, tourist attractions, medical centers and many businesses. Underground parking us avaliable for quite a high rate, but it is convenient. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The daily rates are very expensive.I really liked that there were no carpets in the rooms, they look much cleaner. The bathroom was much to small and did not have a fan, making showering very claustrophobic and uncomfortable. The bathroom was also dingy looking, I'm not sure if it is because it's old and needing repair or in need of a good cleaning.It is quite loud in the hotel all through the night. The walls are thin and people in the hallways and rooms are easily heard, along with the traffic and noise from outside.There is a restaurant on site, but there are much better options close by for eating. The best thing about the hotel is the location.

A few years ago I stayed at this hotel for one night. I feel that you need to be very careful checking your credit card and what is held back.After checking out I had a business meeting in St Andrew’’s NB. I use a business credit card with a relatively small amount of credit to prevent fraud. I went to check into my hotel and for some reason my credit card was denied. Comes to find out “The Lord Nelson “ held back $1500.00 for a one night stay without any prior notice.I would like to say that was the end of the story but it wasn’t. That amount of $1500. stayed on my card for three weeks.The Hotel is average to good but they will never get my business again or anyone I represent.

The Lord Nelson was as good as you would like it. The staff were happy to help and took great care of us during our stay.I hop we get a chance to go back and spent some time. Don Hunter

We stayed here on our anniversary trip and fell in love with this hotel! The staff were all extremely friendly and very helpful. I had mentioned when booking that it was our anniversary and they went above and beyond to ensure that we enjoyed our stay, and even left a card for us (along with some treats) when we got to our room.Everything was spotless and the hospitality team made sure it stayed that way.The only drawback is that it's a little difficult to get into the parking garage during rush hour, but we didn't have too hard a time. It's in a very central location so it was easy to walk wherever we needed to go within downtown Halifax.

Great location for downtown walking. Amazing hospitality! Every staff I encountered were polite and professional. 10 out of 10 for customer service. Rooms were very quiet. Slept wonderfully. Will definitely be returning

Staff were very friendly and parking was easy. Overall, a decent hotel for having such an old building and I chose this hotel just because it wasn't carpeted all over. I have no complaints about aging conditions or sizes of elevators of this building because it is an old one building & code was diff then.Few things to note- their air vent was filthy and looked like it needed overall duct cleaning. Carpets under bed and sofa are almost permanent- I wonder if that's necessary for a hotel where hundreds come and step on and cannot be cleaned throughly each time. The rooms were a bit cold or too hot, and air quality due to duct condition was bad resulting all of us reacting to dust allergy. Photo attached was contrasted to show dust clogging behind the bar.Also, I did see a little mouse running across the restaurant while eating breakfast there. I wish their table setting wasn't set as it could have been contacted with mouse living there.
