Brought my cat in who had trouble breathing as no other options were open on a Sunday. After spending 4 hours waiting they informed me they had to keep her over night.Showed up the next day to pick her up at 4 as the vet assured me they would have everything done by that time and I would be able to leave. Arrived at 4 and nothing had been done, spent another 2 hours waiting only to be told to read the discharge notes. I had the discharge notes emailed to me 30min before I even spoke to the vet.Arrived for a follow up 2 weeks later. Appointment was scheduled for 230, was told x-rays wouldn't be done until 330. It is currently 5 PM and I have just been informed that the x-rays are only being done now.The staff is nice enough but the excessive waits and lack of any information makes it hard to trust that these are professionals.Would not recommend this clinic unless you have no other options. If you do have to use it, clear your schedule as you will be waiting for unknown amount of hours.

It is blatantly obvious that this clinic has minimal amount of care for actual animals. Went in with an after hours (barely. It was about 2 minutes after regular business hours) emergency, and wasn’t even allowed in the building. I understand that there are COVID measures in place, but the sign on the door says to call the desk unless it’s an emergency, in which case, go right in. The guard at the door refused to let me in, regardless of what the sign clearly stated, and my order explanation as to why we were there. My girlfriend was on the phone with the desk (who originally told her she would have to call poison control and open a file with them before we could bring our dog in. She called the poison control number given, and was told it would be over $60 USD to create a file on the matter. Thinking this made zero sense, she called the desk back. They then proceed to go through about 20 minutes of questions regarding our personal information and account. We had been outside the vet office with a poison EMERGENCY for about a half hour, and they still haven’t even asked us what we were there for. No concern that our dog could possibly be dying. No mention of a vet being notified, or even being on site. The complete lack of concern from what is supposed to be an emergency office is unacceptable. Emergency means right now. Not over a half hour before they even bother to find out what the issue is. And even then, the only reason they knew was because we cut them off and said this was ridiculous and told them why we were there. The service from this clinic has drastically gone downhill in the last couple of years. It used to be one of the best vet clinics in the province, and now it’s complete garbage. No care from anyone who works there. This is not my only negative experience with WCVM, and I know a lot of other people with very similar stories.

I cannot express my gratitude to the vets and staff here enough. Both times I have had to bring my pets here they went above and beyond to help them. The vets are so compassionate and treated my animals like they were their own.Recently my senior dog there for surgery that was considered high risk due to his anemia. They knew how terrified and upset I was and they did absolutely everything to save him and make him extremely comfortable. They listened to every concern I had and treated my dog like star. He had the most phenomenal treatment here and for that I'm so grateful. Thank you Wcvm for saving my dog and treating us with so much compassion.

My cat had urinary blockages and was in extreme pain. The veterinarian told us he will need surgery on his urethra costing a few thousand dollars. We took him to another vet who said we just need to switch him to a diet of the Urinary CD cat food. He hasn't had any blockages since. I was willing to spend thousands of dollars on my boy, and the vets at this clinic bank on that. They are knife-happy and would rather have some animals to practice on than do what is best for the animal. I always recommend that people avoid this place unless it's the middle of the night and they have no other choice. And if they are recommending major surgery, get a second opinion.Edit: I also wanted to say that you should always feed your cat wet food if you can, the moisture content prevents urinary blockages.

My dog has had a couple major surgery’s at the college. We have both had an amazing experience each time for such stressful situations. The care is exceptional, the follow up check ins by phone and in person preceding procedures has always made me feel like my dog is just as important as the next. I would highly recommend the college

One of my pups was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, but we have no veterinary oncologists in Manitoba, so I was referred to the college to ensure she got the best care. Dr. LJ from oncology was my first point of contact; he was absolutely amazing. He constantly took my calls and answered every question. He guided me through the process and gave me reassurance during this emotional time. Dr. Fan was a ray of sunshine. She was very attentive and her positivity kept me going. Dr. Messiaen, who performed the amputation, was an angel who set my mind at ease knowing my baby was in the best hands. In fact, everyone was wonderful; the director, both liaisons, the staff at the clinic and the pharmacy all played a part in ensuring Rudy and I had the least painful experience possible and that she got the best care. They truly are the best.

Took our cat in for a 2 AM emergency and ended up having to euthanize him for a UTI, since we didn't have access to $2500 for treatment until the bank opened. A UTI shouldn't have been the end of his life. They've been good in the past with our other pets, but this experience has been too horrible.

We had to take our pyreneese to the college for prostate cancer. Dr LJ and staff were the best to deal with, he explained everything in detail to us. We had a better understanding of the cancer and we tried to do what we could but it was too aggressive and we had to let our dog go. Dr LJ was very compassionate with us at this time, and he made us feel a lot better about our hard decision. The aftercare of Gus and the sympathy card we received were very thoughtful and we appreciated everything they have done for us. Thank you Dr LJ and staff. We appreciate you all.
