Engel & Völkers in Nova Scotia

I would strongly recommend against working with Engel and Volkers. My girlfriend and I were provided with a list of dog friendly units in a building they manage, we requested a unit, it was reserved for us and we promptly submitted our application and transferred the necessary deposit. We heard nothing back for more than a week and when we followed up we were told that the pet policy had changed and our application would be rejected. No one bothered to inform us of this. We had already cancelled our current lease, abandoned our pursuit of other locations and are now left wondering where we will be living in a few short months. Due to Engel and Volkers inaction, we have missed our prime opportunity to find another space. Highly unprofessional and very disappointing experience.

Cam Samson is the man! He is super responsive, intuitive and knowledgeable. His experience in construction became evident on the first property he showed us. He impressed us so much that we went back to him on another listing which we purchased. He gave us personalized video tours (not just the one on the listing) arranged home, well, septic inspections and set us up with a great mortgage broker and lawyer. All of this was done without us setting a foot on the property since we were in California and then quarantined in British Columbia in different time zones. He helped us time our arrival in Nova Scotia for the simultaneous closing and required provincial quarantine in the house. He was very empathetic to our situation, going above and beyond. We are thrilled with the results. So if you are from “away” (out of province) Cam is the best there is to help you make that Nova Scotia dream come true!

I will NEVER EVER have this company sell me any properties ever again. FALSE ADVERTISEMENT and UNPROFESSIONAL on one of the properties (1183 Fourchu Rd. Cape Breton Nova Scotia) we were looking at. Never mentioned anything about wetlands, waterfront (saying it was 600 feet turns out to be around not even 300). Water is so shallow EVERYTHING ABOUT THE PROPERTY was not as he described it to be. VERY RUDE and REFUSED to give back the deposit. Be aware of this company. There are many more properties that was FALSELY ADVERTISED. Be cautious of these people.
