Realstar management at Main square apartments is awful. You send around notices saying having something on your door is a safety issue but then your maintenance people leave a filthy fridge and stove sitting outside our apartment door from the apartment next door that getting work done to it. All because your workers are too lazy to put it in the vacant apartment next to it. 50 years lived here and have never see it so run down.

Sooo why advertise refer a friend bonus if you don't plan to issue it??It's been a year since I referred my friend for a apartment rental. I have followed up with the resident manager numerous times to get an update about when we will receive the bonus.. apparently the head quarters works very slow to process this request" says the manager. The most disappointing thing is that my calls are not getting answered any more. Is it too much to ask for what I owe? God knows how many decades until they give me the bonus..."

Having filled an application for an appartment in Milton with the manager present & wanting a unit asap I was told that would be sent via fax.The next day I phoned the head office to confirm and answer any questions, response I got was have yet to receive?Subsequent calls just ignored over 2 days then finally told no, not accepting despite signage on property stating 3 units for rent.Very strange company who seem to be selective".Frustrated I checked & found it's legal for the company to refuse without question whomever.Retired 68 male with both fixed and supported income & was prepared to submit tax filings.Strange business management strategy."

It was very bad experience with this company.they should change their name to REAL STAR STEALERSI lived in cambridge place building for years and after 2 months of moving out , they sent me an email with fake pictures that i left the apt in bad condition and i have to pay $3,500 fixing cost and refused to go to tenant-landloard court and hiered money collector just to bad my credit in equifax so i concluded that the want to renovate the apt for the new tenant on my expences============================================In addition , they made renovation for the parking garage and some common places in the building and by certain way got permission from the court to apply 5.5 % rent increas instead of 1% legal city rate and applied it for all tenant .I advice do not rent there to avoid my horrible experience

My parents recently moved out of one of the apartments that Realstar owns in St. Catharines and I am so glad they did. the apartment itself was great but the superintendent left a lot to be desired. I know my parents are not alone in feeling this way as most of the tenants would talk amongst themselves about her. My parents are an elderly couple and she treated them horribly!! My Mom booked the elevator with her for moving day and did check with her on more than one occasion to make sure the booking was still ok and she said yes but come moving day she accused my parents of not booking the elevator and of course gave them a hard time as that's what she does best.Upon my parents leaving there was of course an inspection and my Mom diligently cleaned the whole apartment from top to bottom and my Dad filled holes in the wall from pictures they had hung but when my Father went to take the keys back she accused my parents of making holes in the metal balcony facing which were there when my parents moved in, she asked my father if he could prove that the holes were there and of course he had no proof, she said she was going to charge them $500 to have them fixed or she would sue them so, of course my Dad paid the $500 not wanting to be sued but I have my doubts that this money was going toward fixing this. This is awful that a company can take advantage of seniors like this as they are already on a fixed income. I highly recommend not renting at this building at 1 Clark St in St. Catharines. My Father tried discussing this with her but she called the police on him and of course he did call her a few choice words but she totally had it coming.I think Realstar really needs to take a look at what kind of people they put in these positions, my in laws were superintendents for years at another building in St. Catharines and if they treated the tenants as badly as this one did, they would have been let go, just a suggestion Realstar. This will not be that last of us as I will be calling Realstar to get a receipt for the $500 that my Father paid to have the balcony repaired

We lived at 70 Drury St. in Bradford. I am glad that we have moved. Tried to make a deal. We were moving in September asked if I could have the September month as our last month rent this was in August. I was told that Mike from Head Office said no. So we had to pay for September and October 2020 rent. Now my biggest complaint is we paid for rent in the underground parking when we signed our rental agreement 7 years ago. I sold my car that was parked in the underground parking. I had some appointments in Bradford and thought will park in our other parking spot to go to the appointments to find a car parked in our spot #2. There was no follow up on the last month rent that the underground parking was paid, but there was no more car. Therefore I feel the underground parking and the outside parking should be refunded. But then this is what I would expect from the Manager not to do any follow up to check the records. When I asked about our other outdoor parking spot Rhonda played dumb. But again this was expected. There is a lot of contradictions with the manager of the building and he would always Interruptions his wife when she was explaining things. I did notice that if they had to work on the weekends, the garbage in the garage was never emptied and was full. They did not check the hallways to see if they were messy and in some cases the hallways would be dirty. Thank goodness the assistances, when they were on the floors in the hallways would be cleaned, the hallways were always checked. Even on their day off or vacation day Jim would prepare the garbage bucks were ready for the company to pick up garbage. Management could improve work ethics and dealing with the public. I do know everyone has their favorite friends but it seems it is always the same people that complain about the Christine, these people are aloud to park in visitors parking rather than their own parking spot, and they would still be there in the morning. It was fine for these people but not anyone else. The rental cost are too high for the area, paying for hydro when you have no control with heat. Spending a lot of money with the outside and not enough attention to the balconies which are totally rusted when there is a divider. Money was not spent very well. More follow up is needed, and it should not always be one sided. If there is a complaint have both parties come to the office. You will see a different side of the complaint.

I have not had a Bad experience with this company until recently I was all ready to give a Stellar review. For the first time I am appalled with the actions of the mangers at Brookbanks building. Currently there are over 3 apartments available for rent. My friends have applied Monday was confirmed yes they have the apartment. We went in all the information. They claimed they were worried the rent couldn’t be covered. They have 3 sources of income. Making well over enough to cover. Their application was deined after it was confirmed they got the place. For the first time I never wanted to put race as an issue in this regards but it seems that is exactly what is happening. The building is being gentrified. I have met 2 people who have recently moved in and they are white, mangers are white too. My friends being Muslim and are being denied the right to a fair application process. I am disgusted with the management team at this office. We should not be denied the right to housing based off race especially in times of these. My friends are basically homeless living in an Airbnb that is charging them way more that the rent for the apartment they are going for. I am so upset. When I move from here I will be glad. They don’t deserve ur dollars absolutely upset.

I applied for an apartment in Niagara Falls at Lyndon Place. I recently sold my home and offered to pay the entire lease amount up front because I know my credit is poor.I asked about options to add a cosigner and offered to pay first and last immediately and the remainder of the lease upon move in. I am employed full time and have been working the same place for the last almost decade. I make plenty of money to be able to afford a 1 bedroom apartment. I WAS STILL DENIED THE APARTMENT! I was given absolutely no explanation or sympathy from the manager. I am disgusted with how I was treated on the phone. Will never rent from this company. I went to Skyline and they are at least reasonable and willing to work with me.

Sorry 0 star is not an available option. I have never been so appalled in my life!!! My brother rented at miller apts at 187 queen st in Sarnia Ont and had passed away in his apt of natural causes. The police had told us that we (my mother & I) because she is 75 yrs old and unable to move stuff so I was given permission to help her. But we were to be given a key and no one was allowed in the apt unless my mother or I were present. As soon as police left and my brother was removed from apt Donna the apt manager went into apt and went through ricks stuff removing some items and then when we showed up at the apt she did not want to let us in nor would she give us a key. She gave my mom ricks ID and said she got ahold of goodwill to remove the rest that we didn’t need to go in. My mother insisted that she wanted to to go through his personal belongings she finally let them in. While they where in apt Donna would not leave she hovered over my mother and husband the entire time. Keep in mind my brother passed away that morning so this should have been personal family time and didn’t need Donna hovering around. Donna also took items out of a box that my husband was going through. She reached over his ahold and took a couple objects out of a box and said her husband collected them so she was taking them. She also hung up the phone on me because i wanted ricks cats to go to his step daughter and Donna had already gave them away. This was the worst day of my life I just found out my brother passed away I was still kinda in shock of the news of my brothers passing then my family gets treated this way by this person that they want to call a manager. If this is the people you have representing your company it’s no wonder that real star is getting all 1 star reviews and I’m sure those 1 star reviews would have also given a “0” if that option was available!!

How do these companies continue to exist? But exist they do despite shabby treatment of the very people who make them rich by renting their apartments.I guess the harsh reality for renters like us is that the real estate market both for renting and buying is crying out for regulation and accountability and oversight. Its demand far outstripping supply...but not just that its much more...its the tendency of companies and real estate owners to manipulate the market to keep rents high even though there are many condos that are lying vacant. Their reasoning is simple....the rents and prices must stay high. The market is many times manipulated to maintain high prices. Now, to the treatment that I met with from this company! I fixed an appointment to view a two bedroom apartment at Avenue Road and in the process spoke to their representative many times. The lady who responded over the phone was rude but I brushed that aside as a consequence perhaps of her not being very fluent at the language. Every time I called she asked me to spell out my name. The day of the viewing arrived and I drove down in bad weather all the way downtown ....a good forty minutes and lo and behold she refused to open the door even though I buzzed a couple of times. Eventually she answered the intercom call but did not allow me into the lobby. She kept on asking questions and names of people who were to occupy the apartment and then the intercom got disconnected. I called again and she asked me to call from my cell phone. Why? What was the reason behind that???I called and she again asked me to wait because ..(it was getting difficult to understand why she wanted me to wait even though I was bang on time!). I waited and called again and then she said it was COVID and I must answer a few related questions and that she could not let me in till I had answered the questions. But why could she not allow me inside the lobby? Or better still why did she not leave the questionnaire in the lobby?ORwhy could she not have send me the questionnaire via the email? She had my email and she knew I was coming over. That is what some realtors are doing. Before the day of the viewing they email the questionnaire and I email it back to them. How can I blame her?? She is an employee and clearly the company despite its size has no processes set in place. Its the company that needs to have policies in place and ensure that staff follow those policies especially during COVID days.I called her again and asked her what she meant by treating me so shabbily. Instead of putting her best foot forward and coming down to meet me in the lobby she got angry and asked me what I meant by that question. By then I lost my patience and told her she was treating me poorly . I felt humiliated especially as there was movement of tenants in the lobby. Instead of asking me to wait, she disconnected the phone. At that point in time another gentleman appeared from nowhere. The door opened and I entered the lobby. I got the message but having come all the way I called her once again, despite her having disconnected thrice. She refused to pick up the phone and so I left her a message saying I was leaving. I waited but she did not return the call. So I left without seeing the apartment...My time, along with the money I spent on fuel all went waste...
