Emmanuel Baptist Church Victoria

A calming pleasant church. Acoustics are pretty good. Has a small pipe organ. Pews are comfortable with ample room for standing and allowing other people by. Very simple interior lends to the calm feeling.

Impressed since day one, 9 years ago. Sermons are scripture centered, thought provoking, stimulating and enrinching. Music is soul stirring and enjoyed by and involves all ages. Strong emphasis on local and world-wide missions. A church of two languages (English and Mandarin) one family.

I have attended a lot of churches in Victoria, and this is the first one that I have found with such beautiful music displayed through a variety of styles and instruments. It is never too loud, boring or repetitive. They are open to suggestions for songs to sing, as well ideas for ministries. The whole service is cohesive with thematic stories for the young children that bring truth to light, for the adults as well. The sermons are easy to understand, and not long-winded, allowing for plenty of time to fellowship afterwards over refreshments with people who are welcoming and inclusive as they live their lives in community with God.

Just came from the Living Edge Food Market quite small helpful but not too community conversationally engaging. Small variety yet tones of veggies bread and fruit.

Moved to Victoria almost 12 years ago. This was the most friendly church of the ones we tried. Great community, good teaching, great focus on ministry to UVic students.

We have been going to EBC for 34 years ,capably run by a caring female pastorIngrid White who works 7 days a week caring for all people ,all the time . she is currently an associate pastor here. John Wilton is a legend in theology on Wed night bible study and we are fortunate just to listen to him about Jesus as The Son of God . Many Chinese Christians find this Church to be the best in the city under the capable leadership of Joshua Wong . All are welcome to this caring , praying Church .

i hate this church. my daughter used to go to Sunday school, but would come home crying saying that none of the kids included her and and the teachers weren't friendly. she explained it was very awkward being there. many kids would just be running around and screaming at each other. i don't recommened coming here

We went to this church many years ago, And now we are back, still feel like a home.

Emmanuel is an inclusive, culturally diverse church that welcomes all people. We have been attending since 1993. Education is a key component of Emmanuel, with Sunday School classes being offered for all ages, including adults. They are also one of the few churches that have a full time Worship Arts Pastor. She creates beautiful, metaphor-filled worship services that include things like individually crafted clay communion cups, sculpted plaster hands, dance and poetry, string ensembles, choirs, outdoor nature services, a driftwood cross, personalized and relevant prayers with time for reflection, candle displays, Taize Services and more. Our lead pastor is young and very welcoming to new comers. Our associate pastor has a special heart for seniors and people with exceptional needs. There is a special, free dinner every Tuesday night for students. And we have a Mandarin service that runs concurrently to the main service, as well as translation and joint services. You can find brothers and sisters who use their lives worship God. For example, 15 years student dinner service, 80 volunteers serving 300-400 students dinner every Tuesday ( Sep-April). Most volunteers are lovely, humanity senior.
