Hot Frost Heat Pumps

We used this company five or six years ago for a heat pump and it worked like a charm. We just down sized and purchased another home and we used this company again for another heat pump. The service we receive is always great and professional. The office girls helped us apply for the grant and made the process very easy for us. We can't say enough good things about our experience with Wade and his employees. Highly recommend this company.

I was shopping for a reliable installer. No thorough review of heating requirements. No reference to Amerispec Energy Audit. No reference to NRC ASHP sizing and selection guide. No operating cost estimate for an Air Source Heat Pump, even through historical heating costs for my home were provided. Their project manager / sales representative was not willing to discuss specs without an installation commitment. No installation guarantee - a complete failure to inspire confidence. Other reviews are more positive.

Writing this review approximately 4 months since my initial appraisal and installation. I opted for the Daikin model, 3 head system, I had an oil furnace and tank.First off, as far as I know it this is primarily a family run, local business. I had the pleasure of meeting Wade one of the owners on my initial assessment, he came over and was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, not just about the units but about the various Canadian rebates/incentives, I went from 0 knowledge to 60 in about a 20-minute session. He explained all of the available units and capacities and how they may work within my home.After taking some time to select the unit I wanted, the installation date was arranged, and a team of professionals arrived and had all 3 (4 including the outdoor unit) installed in about 2 hours. Very friendly and professional, can't say enough. They capped off the installation with a full walkthrough of my units, how it's used and best practices and ran a complete test - brilliant.During all of this I was navigating both the federal and provincial government rebates (Canada Greener Homes and NL Hydro Oil to Electric), the questions I had were quickly answered by Hot Frost Heat Pumps and they also recommended a local company who performs the required assessment to qualify for the rebates (Amerispec NL highly recommended).I received my Federal rebate in about 2 weeks, the oil to electric rebate had more requirements and I accidentally forgot a key one 'electrical inspection' I contacted Hot Frost, spoke to the other owner Marlene and she immediately jumped on it, got me the inspection certificate and within 3 weeks received my oil to electric rebate.So far, the units have been performing exceptionally well, the air conditioning is amazing and on the few recent cold days, the heat is wonderful, heats and cools my entire home.Thanks Hot Frost (whole team) keep up the amazing work. I would highly recommend to anyone.

My first appointment to discuss the heat pumps was cancelled 10 minutes after the appointment was to start and they never showed for the install appointment a few weeks later — the appointment time given to me never having been entered into the system.For a product where warranty and post-installation service is so important, I have a hard time recommending Hot Frost for your heat pumps.

Terrible consumer service. Wouldn’t recommend this company to my worst enemy's. Unsure of the girls name, but she is very rude in her return calls. Not interested in helping at all. My business would have definitely went else where if I had to take my time to research.They don’t stand to their value or warranty.Give heat pump solutions a call for best service in the city. Trust me!!

Could not get to first base in setting up an appointment with this company! And to top it off, when we did finally get a date, it was on Good Friday!!! When questioned about this they said they had no knowledge of any appointment and that the “scheduling person” was not available at that time (or at any other time we had contacted them!,) I will NOT recommend these people to anyone, actually I will be actively advising everyone against utilizing their services!

Recently got a 3 level heat pump installed by them.Had a great expereince, intial quote went well and they showed up on time.Installation was fast and professional. Unit works great. They even set up the warrenty for you.All communication afterwards was good as well.Would of been nice for owner/managers to get in contact after installation to make sure everything went well. But besides that fanstastic provider ! All my friends who hat units installed by them all had positive expereinces.

There should be an option for zero. They no showed the first consultation, no phone call, no explanation. They canceled the second consultation which was two days later. Called them to reschedule and they said they’d call me back in 15 minutes.. never did.You’re not doing me a favour, you’re running a business.

Installation was fast, clean, and professional however aftermarket service was absolutely awful. You'll have a great experience as long you never need help afterwards.Installation - Very quick and responsive. Quick quote and even quicker installation. Only complaint I have is that there was no dedicated condensation line so water just drips out of the ducting cover randomly. Can't hold this against them as it may just be the design of the unit.Aftermarket - This is where the problems began. In the middle of summer (around June) our unit would not cool adequately. We contacted Hot Frost and they sent a tech quickly. The tech was friendly and professional but couldn't find a cause of the problem, stating that the unit appeared to be working correctly. It wasn't. They recommend we run the unit like normal, which ate a tremendous amount of electricity driving up our power bill.They came back a second time after a few weeks and finally ordered a replacement sensor. I know there's a global shortage of electronics, so I knew the part would take a long time to come in, and I don't hold that against them, however there was zero communication about the status of our unit for about 6-7 months. We would regularly reach out periodically with the only update being it's on order".We had no heating or cooling from our units during this extended time. As a result we went with a third party repair service who fixed the problem

The folks at Hot Frost are awesome. Top notch customer service, installation and the best heat pump brand in the market. Would highly recommend this great company. You'll be happy.
