Hickory Dickory Decks Brampton / Halton Hills

Terrible experience. Spent $20K on a composite deck ($4K to upgrade from cedar to composite). Crews chose to build the deck in December (melting/burning joints with heat gun). HDD used high end composite deck supplier; since out of business in Canada. Boards were poorly cut with joints never lined up. Stairs were formed with inconsistent height. Crews had to use special screws to attach board to pressure treated wood where clips could not be used. Crews used standard screws which since popped out and/or damaged composite boards. The overall carpentry finish was very poor. Posts and railing were not plumb/leveled, and some boards were not attached properly. Crew was told to fix prior to completion but failed to do and demanded final payment. According to the manufacturer specifications, crew build the deck not in accordance with the warranty specification allowing no ventilation under the deck boards. Buyer be aware.

My husband and I are very happy with our interaction with HDD Brampton. We were not sure about the deck design, so Matt gave us very valuable suggestions. The work itself was done within a week. We also changed the fence a bit during the deck construction - instead of bars we went with glass for some parts of the deck. There was no word of complain - Matt very quickly arranged it. Now, a year after the deck was built - I can say - it is a nice professional piece of work!

Had to ask repeatedly for a quote - started in January and only got it in April/May. They didn't answer questions. Dropped off dozens of samples and we never knew what they were all for. Finally gave up and used someone else.Should have known right up front that if you have to ask 4 times to give me a quote, they don't want the job.

Matt Simpson (Acton) was great to deal with; specs and patience. His installer was meticulous, neat and pleasant. Overall the process was smooth, we got exactly what we expected and we love our deck. It cost more than we had hoped but we chose the expensive vinyl and railings. Ask for Kos as your installer.
