Our basement was unfinished and Brett renovated it top to bottom including laminate flooring, drywall, fireplace installation, two piece bathroom and duct work. He identified several issues early in the process and came up with creative ideas to deal with them. He always has an eye on functionality first and then pleasing design to meet our needs and reflects our style.He was easy to work with, responded quickly to text and email inquiries, and always informed us of the schedule and what trades to expect and when. Our project came out on budget and he accommodated some last minute changes with ease. We're very pleased with the results. I highly recommend Brett and won't hesitate to contact him for the next project.

I would like to recommend Brett Thompson of Studio B Design who has just completed a major renovation on my recently purchased 2 bedroom older condo in Waterloo. He managed the following operations: completely replaced carpet with new flooring and new baseboards, new doors and hardware, workroom storage shelves, reno of 2 new bathrooms, drywalling, painting, lighting as well as electrical. I was able to move in after less than 6 weeks from the start of work with the majority of these tasks completed. After moving in, Brett or his tradesmen continued to come to complete a number of smaller jobs which was fine with me.It has been a pleasure to work with Brett. He is well-mannered, honest, and straight talking. Reliable and communicative: if he says he’ll do something, it will happen. If there were delays I was informed in a timely way by text or phone sometimes on a Sunday night. In one case a job was problematic.. I wanted to blame the tradesman, but he took full responsibility and compensated for the issue to my satisfaction. He has good trade contacts. Specialized tasks, tiling. glass shower door, and counters were done beautifully. His contacts also provided good discounts on materials for bath and kitchen. While we were also working with a designer, he often made useful proactive design or structural suggestions since he was the one with boots on the ground.Brett is relatively new to this business in the region but it’s work he obviously relishes. I wish him well in developing Studio B Design Build in the area.

I highly recommend Brett Thompson of Studio B Design. Not only is he a skilled contractor, pulling all the trades together to get the job done when he says it will be done, but he is also trustworthy and reliable. Brett gave me an initial quote and even with all the changes I made during the project, he advised me when I was exceeding my budget or if something cost extra. He helped me cut costs where I needed to and always kept me informed of what trades would be in and when. Brett and all his trades were easy to work with, down to earth, and accommodating.Brett renovated my condo unit built in 1973; just imagine the challenges updating an older building unit like that. He literally renovated floor to ceiling. Here's what he did... new flooring throughout (tiles and engineered hardwood), tore down a wall to open up the kitchen, gutted the kitchen and bathroom, recommended a kitchen place (Cerwood - who were also fantastic to work with - Thanks Erin and Geoff), added a built in closet to the master, added lighting throughout with a licensed electrician, added plumbing for a dishwasher and adjusted vanity and shower plumbing, new base boards, new doors, changed popcorn ceiling to California ceiling, trimmed out windows, kitchen back splash, tiling tub surround, and so much more odds and ends which made all the difference in the end. Brett's attention to detail on the finished project really sets him apart from the rest.There were some challenges, as with any renovation, and Brett communicated issues with me and advised me how the issues could be resolved. He worked his magic to hide a pony wall in my new kitchen island (you'd never know it was there), and where I had to have a post installed to hide wiring, he adjusted plans to make it eye pleasing. Brett wouldn't do something if he felt it was a waste of money for me or if he wouldn't have it in his own place (that is, he wouldn't allow me to make a mistake). For instance I wanted to tare down a wall in the bathroom to create a linen closet, the space was small and a cabinet was a better solution and less of a cost for what I wanted. Brett helped me come to this realization so my money wouldn't be wasted on labour and material that wouldn't give me what I truly wanted in the end. Brett saw my vision for my renovation and he made sure it came to fruition.Brett is creative and when I had an idea for something, he made it happen again in the most cost effective way possible. It is obvious that Brett is trustworthy and well liked by his trades, as they would always tell me what a great guy Brett is, and I have come to realize this too. Even after Brett was paid in full he still came back in a timely manner to finish odds and ends. Brett truly cares about the work he does and pleasing his clients. I will always call Brett first when I have a new project and I will always recommend him to anyone looking for a contractor.If you chose Studio B, you can rest easy that your money will be put to good use and your project will get done perfectly!

Brett helped out with our main floor reno and did an amazing job. He’s professional, timely and responsive with his work. Brett did a major renovation job on our home during COVID times. I cannot say enough good things about him. The quality of work is superb. He is a no fuss person and was very willing toWork with us if we wanted to make any changes. Most importantly he was able to finish our work within the time frame he had committed to. We met Brett when he was working on some houses in our neighbourhood. We worked with Brett to finish our basement in 2021 as well as flooring work for our main floor. He was great to deal with and was attentive to our budget and design requirements.

Brett was great! He quoted the job in a timely manner and stayed within my budget. He kept a very tidy work space, ensuring dust was kept to a minimum. He was flexible when I changed my mind and asked for an extension of a wall. He was so easy to work with and his time management was on par. I highly recommend Brett and his team for any renovation job, big or small!!
