Belcarra Paddling Center, Takaya

I had booked 2 double kayaks for myself and some out of town guests. 15 minutes before my appointment (I had already driven into Belcarra), I received a call to inform me that they were closed as their staff were heading back to school (this was a Saturday). They noted that they tried calling a couple hours prior (at 9 AM), but we did not receive a call. Even if attempts were made to call us that morning, it is very unreasonable that they cancelled our appointment with less than 4 hours notice. We had already made the drive out to Belcarra and scheduled our entire day's plans around this appointment... When we received our booking confirmation, we were informed that we would be charged a cancellation fee if we cancelled with less than 24 hours notice. It is really inconsiderate to be wasting their customer's time and resources due to a lack of planning on their end. I do think that if they were to penalize us for a last minute cancellation, there should be compensation for our time and resources if they are the ones cancelling last minute (in addition to a full refund, which they indicated they would be providing). When I asked the staff if they could recommended any other paddling centers in the area, they suggested I check out North Vancouver. I reiterated the fact that I had already driven out to Belcarra... a frustrating experience, for sure!!

Pour equipment,Kayak Rutter wouldn't center. Time to sell the old kayaks and upgrade to new equipment. staff have 0 knowledge of self recovery or the safety equipment requirements for solo kayaking. It's the employers responsibility to train their staff.

Staff are friendly but the equipment we were given was terrible. The plastic canoe bows in the middle and the seats move slightly making it prone to tipping (there were some huge waves up near jug island).Also they only have paddle lengths for children or small women, we asked for larger but they confirmed this. I’m 6’ and my paddle (the largest available) was about 6” too small, barely large enough to push water. When I told them this prior to our paddle they didn’t even seem to realize how to size a canoe paddle and shrugged.

We rented 2 double kayaks. One of the kayaks was leaking water so about every 10 mins, I had to stop and pump out the water out of the kayaks. Fortunately for us that day, I got the leaking kayak and not the wife and daughter as they would not know what to do. It made it for a very bad experience, that now I had to pump water out of kayak instead of enjoying the scenic views of the water and land that I should have been doing instead. The attendants inform me that they will refund for one of the double kayak rentals but it’s been 5 working days already and received nothing from them…. So much for their word….

Been here a few times for kayak rentals. I like that overnight parking passes are included and that there's plenty of parking around. Everything I've rented has been clean and in good condition and the staff is friendly and helpful. I'd say it's just a bit on the pricey side.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and were flexible with us changing our time day of as we were arriving late. The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is that despite speaking with several staff on the phone before arriving, no one let us know that there was overnight parking passes available so we ended up having to take a taxi to Belcarra Park. The website also does not mention parking passes. Given that our rental was for 48 hours it would have been nice for them to mention it when I spoke with staff.

We went for an overnight to grantite falls and the people working there were very accommodating for our needs. We had a lot of questions, as we are beginners when it comes to paddling, and they were able to explain things well enough to calm any anxieties we had about the trip. I will be using them again for my paddling needs, and I would 100% recommend them to friends.

The paddle board rental program is awesome, people are friendly and helpful. Just be careful that next to the rental there is a little concession which is kind of scamming. Additional price automatically added when you wanna buy food, and recommend cheap drinks with expensive amount refusing to refund the extra part. When u argue, they just refuse to sell u food.

Kayaking was so fun! we had to park in the overflow and ended up being late by 20 minutes, but thankfully they still gave us a full 3 hours on the water! Perhaps they wouldn’t be able to do that on a busier day, but we were very grateful. Being on the water was so relaxing. There was a decent amount of boat traffic, which created some waves, but nothing too turbulent. Would definitely go again and for $70 for a double kayak for 3 hours, I’d say it’s worth it!

Really good spot for doing padle board or just chilling on the water.Just 1star less because the parking is small ... You have yo be patient
