GEC Granville Suites Hotel

The hotel was decent for our needs. We had one night in Vancouver prior to our departure home. The rooms were clean, the service was friendly, and the location was fairly convenient from one of the hop on hop off bus stops as well as the skytrain station to get the train to the airport. The penthouse is available for all guests, and the view was good. There is a restaurant conveniently located adjacent to the hotel where we got dinner and we had no problems with our luggage being sent from the cruise terminal to the hotel and stored until we were ready to check in. No pictures, unfortunately.

We picked this hotel because the price was slightly less ridiculous than others in the area, and it was in a very walkable area with close proximity to Granville island. The room was actually quite nice. Bed could be a little softer, but it was ok. Definitely docked points for the extra charge though! Upon check in, I was charged an extra $25 per night for my second child (age 15). Apparently “in Canada anyone over 12 is considered an adult”. Regardless of age, our group was 4 people and we booked a room with two double beds, so not sure why there was an extra charge at all?All in all it was a decent hotel.

Customer service requires some people skill training. I don't think they have host experience. I would not stay here if you like a cleanly safe space. The only thing good about this place is the location.

Beautiful clean spacious rooms! Originally my room was facing a blues bar outside . It was fine during the week but it got pretty noisy on the weekends. I requested a room change and it was upgrade to the room of the photo I included , no problem. The new room was much more spacious and had half panoramic views . It was also much quieter . The hotel has a tiny gym and a separate dry sauna for men / women. The rooftop is a beautiful space for viewing (and selfies) and is connected to a fully functioning kitchen. The staff were friendly and accommodating and held my luggage for early arrival . I spent 12 days there and it was conveniently located and easy to catch a bus / cab. It’s also walking distance to Tim’s !! <3Zero complaints !

I put the average rating because this hotel does not deserve its price. Almost 200$ per night is too much for such hotel. This is the case when downtown location has no value even though it is nearby major tourist attractions (Stanley park and Harbour tower). But the streets right outside the hotel are filled with homeless and drug addicts. So I would not recommend this location. Also, despite being in downtown you won't get any decent view due to the buildings around. Rooms are outdated also. The only good thing about this hotel are nice girls in reception and very nice restaurant. Breakfast is amazing and food in the restaurant is really good, also ambiance and service. But the restaurant does not belong to hotel, so it deserves separate review.

Not a bad location, but not much more positive things to write.Very dirty, rundown room - we found toenails and hair all over the floor in the bathroom. Holes in the walls, dents in the door frames, broken fittings, chipped tiles. Bathroom fan switch broke and wouldnt turn off (although the fan wasnt working anyway except to make a god-awful noise) and the showerhead was dirty and broken.Wouldnt come here again, definitely not worth the price we paid!

We chose [The] Granville Suites as we needed a hotel situated near to both the shopping district and the port. The hotel looks mid-century, like me, and like me is a little tired in places. At this price point customers pay particular attention to curtains, furniture, fixtures and fittings.The location, however, is ideal for shopping as it is on the outskirts of the shopping district. With Granville Street yards away from the hotel anywhere downtown is easy to reach. Stanley Park, English Bay and the port are also accessible on foot with the latter taking around thirty minutes at a stroll.Hotels in this area are expensive for an English palate like my own. The Granville is definitely worth considering when visiting Vancouver especially if you have a boat to catch.

This is literally the worst place I have ever stayed. I have been to a lot of dingy hotels but this one really takes the cake. First of all, the staff is so rude it made me and all my friends want to cry. My girlfriend sat back against the bed and the headboard literally fell down, which could have seriously injured her if it had fallen on her head. Secondly, they said my friend broke their parking garage camera, when she did not. They proceeded to tell us at 4 in the morning that they would charging us a damage deposit for the headboard and the camera, even though neither was our fault. My friends boyfriends saw the camera feed and it was not broken. Lastly, to make everything worse, when we got a new room the cleaning staff came in at 830 in the morning without knocking- when checkout isn’t until 11! The violation of privacy was insane. Seriously do not waste your money here- because they’re going to try and milk you for more with “damages”

Central location, connected through a lot of public buses. Close to basic needs' stores like coffee, groceries, etc. Hotel Ambience is very basic. Room was tidy and functional. Good view. Toilets were clean with basic amenities. Just 1 chair was there, which was very shabby shape.
