Saint Germain Bakery

I’ve had about 4 birthday cakes from this bakery and all were great. Tonight was a durian cake. After the initial backing away because of the smell, we braved that first taste and that’s all it took. We loved that there were chunks of durian throughout and that the cake was so moist and creamy, too.

The popular bakery has just recently opened one more location, this one on W41st Ave. in the heart of Kerrisdale. Here you will find a wide assortment of sweet and savoury breads, delectable egg or cheese tarts, and cakes, but also available are several frozen options for you to finish baking at home. As well, this shop has added a few drinks (hot & cold), and a small seating area in case you decide not to wait and eat your purchase right there. The quality of their products has been a constant, and their prices very reasonable, these are the reasons why the chain has been so successful. Recommend!

Bright, spacious, and clean Chinese bakery. They have a huge selection of buns, cakes, cookies, and more. As with most Chinese bakeries, most of the pastries are individually wrapped and meant to be grabbed with tongs and loaded onto a tray while you shop. Plenty of hand sanitizer around. It was decently busy when I visited, but there's enough room in the store that it wasn't crowded. I tried 3 pastries (Sweet Corn Bun, Preserved Egg Pie, and a slice of Black Sesame Cake) and all were amazing. They all had richly flavoured fillings with a nice balance of sweet and savoury, the cake wasn't too sweet, and tasted super fresh. I like that they have some harder-to-find flavours in their selection of pastries in addition to the classics! They also have some drinks available! I got their HK Milk Tea and found the tea to have a nice complex flavour. Will definitely be coming back to try more.

They are a great bakery with excellent cakes. Pricing is reasonable for the presentation that they put together, I am in love with the rose petal cakes that they do. It's all edible and very tasty. They are incredibly busy and rightly so, they have a ticket system so make sure you pay attention to that or your turn will be skipped. They've also got a large selection of baked goods, Chinese and western pastries. I wish they had proper seating but considering that it's in oakridge mall you can go to the food court and sot down with it.

We bought a tuna fish bun for my 4 yr old. He took a few bites and found a piece of gravel/aggregate inside, very disturbing.

Always consistent, they have a bun I’m only able to get from them so I’m glad they finally have a location here in west side of Vancouver.

I went there 4 months ago to buy a home coming cake,it was mango with whipped cream,and chocolate shards with fruit on top ,and I had never had mango before and I don't eat cake but this cake was absolutely amazing it was fresh and I had never tasted a cake as wonderful as this. The staff was very attentive and helpful. If you want friendly service and fresh products this is the place you should go to for great pastry desserts or cakes. they will not disappoint.

I have been a loyal customer to this bakery when it was at Oakridge Mall and the staff there ok except one named Grace who was super nice and polite. I was disappointed when they closed down with redevelopment. Then, I was happy when I found it open at Kerrisdale but I was happy too early. Staff here are extremely rude. And today, I even witnessed some staff, not only one, yelled at an elderly lady, saying she was late in picking up orders. The lady replied that the deadline was 11：30am and the time she picked up was 11：20am, still within the time frame. One staff then yelled at this elderly lady that if she cannot pick up early, she shouldn't order but this staff can't explain why 11：20 is late when it is still within the time frame. Very unpleasant watching even just standing by. Not buying from this bakery anymore. Rather go to Michelle Cake shop at the 44 and West Blvd.
