Northway Motor Inn

In August 2022, our stay at the Northway Motor Inn in Dease Lake, BC proved to be a quiet, clean, friendly reprieve for us dusty, tired travelers from Vancouver Island. In the midst of our hectic preparations for canoeing the Dease River, Front Desk staff (aka motel manager) were always thoughtful, helpful and prepared with a good dose of humour. The lobby was a going concern with guests as well as locals. With health protocols always in place, we enjoyed the informative map of British Columbia and shared great local knowledge about the province. The same applied to the motel's outdoor bar-b-que area. Our room was clean, large and had a kitchenette. This came in handy since food options were limited on a Sunday night, so we got frozen meals at the grocery store across the street. The shower was especially nice, and I had what was probably my best night's sleep during a 22-night trip. The room was on the back side of the hotel and looked into a pretty fenced area with trees and wildflowers. It was interesting to wake up in the morning to a few inches of wet snow. Someone in the parking lot told us that snow in June isn't unknown, but most locals had never seen that much snow so late.

I'd give this place negative stars if I could. This hotel was gross! The shower head had mold and was not clean at all and there was trash on the floor and hair on the bed. We asked to switch rooms and it was the same thing. Wasn't clean. We asked to get bleach so we could take a shower but there was nothing we could do to clean it. They need to replace the shower heads. It's taking advantage bc that's the only hotel for MILES. If possible do not stay here!

I've stayed here a few times over the years. Perfectly in the middle for our trips between Smithers and Whitehorse. Always friendly and accommodating. Rooms have always been clean and open year round. No a/c but it's the north, open the window and turn on a fan. My only wish is for a sit down dinner. They had great in-house pizza a couple years ago... sorely missed.

The place is in a desolate area and the women sitting in the office areacouches" seemed very judgy. They made comments about not liking the military which is why we were traveling through. It looked as if there was black mold on the shower head so we moved rooms and the same was for the new room as well. There was trash up under the beds as well. They try to jab you and take advantage of nothing being open around by selling TV dinners for 17. Bucks. I say traveling from Georgia to Alaska this was our worst stay. There is another inn or something across the street. I say go there"

I really enjoyed my stay here. The staff was very friendly. The rooms were clean and comfortable. It is a pet friendly hotel which was great since we were traveling with a dog. The views are stunning. There are not much services in town so be prepared to be without a decent restaurant. The gas station across the street has food, but it's gas station food so don't expect much.DO NOT refuse the cookies at the front desk. The are baked fresh and very delicisious.Not only would I stay here again, I really want to come back because we were just driving through on a long road trip. Stay here. Stay a while. You will love it.

Excellent hotel as a stopover on the way to the Yukon. Plan accordingly because food options are very minimal around the area. The gas station across the street has some hot food but they were shutting down around 2pm. The hotel has some frozen meals that you can purchase from them as an alternative. But mostly recommend to bring your own food. They have a microwave and a fridge so easy to store food and easy to heat.

We stayed here for one night on our way to Washington. The woman at the front desk was very kind and gave us recommendations on where we could get dinner. The room was clean and had the necessities. There were quite a few people on the backside of the building smoking and talking until about 1 am- wasn’t sure if this was a nightly occurrence or just happened to be the guests staying at the time, but as long as we closed the window we didn’t smell or hear them. Just unfortunate as we liked the window to be open. Overall, would stay here again if passing through!

I rolled into Dease Lake after a loooong day of riding through the cold rain, and I thought there’s no way I’m camping tonight… Luckily, I pulled into Northway Motor Inn and they had a room left! The staff were super helpful and the room was reasonably priced and well appointed, including a small kitchenette.The Shack right next door is also a great spot to grab food, and the local dogs are adorable, too!

We love this little inn!!! We stayed here for the first time in Oct 2020 and the management was so accommodating for a couple of snowy Americans trying to get to Alaska. They had little meals for us to purchase (since it was late and snowy out) and the room was so warm and cozy. Fast forward to Oct 2022, they’re just as thoughtful, accommodating, and cozy on our way back through. We had car troubles and the manager used her connections to get us a mechanic. We able to request a room close to the side door for our dog to quickly go in and out and they were able to easily make that happen! This inn is so wonderful, we are so grateful to the management for their hospitality and accommodations. I will be sure to always recommend this inn! Thank you Northway Motor Inn!
