Strathcona Community Centre
This community centre is a lot less known than others, so it’s usually less busy than nearby centres. They have a variety of programs, I’ve only attended the basketball drop-ins. They seem to be very cliquey and disorganized but considering it’s only $5 to play, it’s still worth checking out for yourself. If you’re new to the sport, I’d recommend going elsewhere as some of the leaders at this community centre can be a bit rude to beginners.

Great programs and incredible staff. They are very welcoming and really lovely. I wish that these amazing humans and offerings were available in every community, though it’s so special how welcoming and truly caring the staff are to all people.

The gym here is all right, not the best nor the worst in terms of its patrons. The staff are all right and most of the equipment is there although very old. The bad part about this gym is that it’s small and the shower and washroom is often occupied by homeless or a strange people.Absolutely nothing special about this place. It is what it is, And you can get nicer gyms for about the same price as this community centers or you can go to another community center in downtown and have better vibe, a swimming pool, and more comfortable set of patrons.

Badminton courts here are almost always empty on the weekend. It’s $5 for a 2-hour session. The staff here are always so friendly and accommodating — if you want more courts opened, they will help set it up!

Decent gym. They have a good selection of machines and weightlifting equipment. Don't expect downtown YMCA quality, but probably better maintained than club 16. At least the machines are functioning.
