Excellent staff, cool and interesting. All your basic needs, a good continental breakfast.

Cannot say enough good about this establishment! The owner (Marcelo) the staff, and the locals are salt of the earth. Helpful, knowledgeable, friendly and available 24/7. Located walking distance from downtown in a beautiful area of St John's. Old world charm and elegance with an on site pub with slot machines, fantastic complimentary breakfast spread. Live music on certain weekends.Lovely out door seating area under a magnificent red elm tree and just across the street from the best chip truck in Newfoundland. Site also offers pub food within at the bar. Pub is cash only, so go prepared, tho there is a cash machine in the lobby. Be sure to book here if you visit St John's!!

Location really is important. The staff we met were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful (thanks Carl, Carey!) The hotel is quaint, historic.

Another example of a hotel whose website and accompanying photos come nowhere to reflecting reality. During the brief time we checked out the hotel, one of no doubt their fine clients broke into our van and stole our CD wallets and our sons backpack of signed books. The place was rundown and dirty looking as was the clientele and there was no way we were going to stay there.

Despite when you pull up to this place and enter it may seem like it's old and what nit but one of the most best sleeps I had in a long time, everything is original with modern updates and accents. The rate is cheap and you have room service to an extent, it's right downtown so getting food and exploring the area is a must. Don't cross thus option off because it's worth it and it's extremely peaceful and relaxing there. Give it a go yall thanks for everything

Marcel Etheridge: Have you not learned anything since 2005? Sounds like the place is still in desperate need of an overhaul. You're a millionaire. That we all know. Spend some money for the love of god and seriously, why are you still serving breakfast off the filthy pool table? Marcel, you have to spend money in order to make good money and have happy customers.

To add: its a shame that this potentially beautiful historical property(ies) are under the same old lazy and pompous owner. It has amazing potential, if the right management were to take over. Currently it's a slight on the entire city. An example of greed and complacency.
