Hertz Car Rental - Halifax Suburban HLE

We had one reasonable experience with an insurance case but in the second case they were very unorganized. Couldn't get through on the phone when issues arose. Was promised a sheet documenting no issues with rental upon return but that never arrived. Obscure deductions from credit card that later disappeared. Two months out now another deduction on credit card that I have to investigate.Stay away from this location

Rented a car from Halifax Marriott, on a busy mother's day Sunday. The poor attendant was on his own, with 6 groups waiting to pick up their rentals. He was rude and condisending, We missed our connection due to this. I had called the call center, spoke to a lady called Mary who confirmed we could drop the car off later in the day and honor our rate". This wasn't true. Spoke to her again and she said "there isn't any notes so you must be lying" however they record their phone calls

Mixed experience. In-person pickup of the car was great, apart from I was to be sent my rental agreement by e-mail and it never arrived. The car itself was good, clean, excellent mechanical condition. However part way through I tried to extend my rental and I could not get hold the the location no matter how hard I tried. Their phone number is automated and directs you only to the website, but having booked through a partner I couldn't use it. They have no other phone numbers or services that allow you to speak to someone. I tried social media, but Hertz's presence there is USA only, they passed on my message but noone ever got back to me. I ended up ringing the hotel reception desk (they're in a hotel building) and asking if they could pass along a message to call me, which the hotel did, and the location never called me. Returning the car was... odd... they took the key, asked if there was gas in it, and didn't seem to care. No checking the condition, no record that I'd returned the car. Nothing. The customer service side needs a revamp, we need to be able to contact them and speak to someone. The booking and the car itself were fine, hence three stars.

Hertz the Hollis location are the best at what they do, they have above and beyond customer service . Very friendly staff and manager. The best service I have ever received from any rental car company.

I was initially really frustrated with this experience because I could not get anyone to answer the phone, but they are totally understaffed and it's not their fault. They waited for us when we had a very late flight and we got a great car.

Terrible service, rude staff, over charged by $300 took hours of circular phone calls to try and get money back.Rented a car from Hertz/Thrifty/Dollar through the Steele Chevrolet (see THAT review too) dealership for repairs on my truck.Got the $40/day price from dealership plus $200 refundable damage deposit. Was charged $522 the next morning and have spent 2 hours working through rude associates, unhelpful automated answering services and the United States to get nothing back so far.

I had a fantastic experience at this location with Shri's help. Was going to Enterprise but after talking to Shri on the phone, I decided to give Hertz a go. The location was under-staffed but Shri was patient, knowledgeable and genuine. He offered a great, safe Dodge SUV with winter tires at a good price for me given the unprecedented winter storm that was about to hit Nova Scotia, and in hindsight, I can't thank him enough for the prudent suggestion. Once the contract was signed, due to the terrible weather Shri made the courtesy to drive the car from the parking lot to where I was at, cleaned off some heavy snow before handing the car to me and made sure there was a snow brush in the car. Everything was done in the proper way. I was very happy with my renting experience from start to finish, and I would rent from this location again if they are able to keep the same service quality as what Shri has delivered.

Do not rent from this location.We reserved a rental via Expedia and the address shown on Expedia was incorrect. We later found out they had changed locations but we received no notice that our pickup address would change and I had to call the old location (a Marriott) to find out what happened. When we arrived to pickup the selection of cars was poor and we were given an oversized pickup truck, which we eventually damaged because it didn't do well with a tight parking lot corner. We tried to call three times about exchanging the rental and no one picked up. Finally I called an 800 number from Hertz and, when the lady answered, she said she could not find my rental record in their system and could not help. This is all on a Monday.We exchanged the truck the next day for something smaller and, when we mentioned that the employee who helped us on Monday had given us a discount to account for gas the employee helping us said, word for word oh
