Premier Lake Provincial Park
Such a beautiful place campsites are great and many sites with lots of shade. A playground to keep the kids occupied. Also there is a boat launch and a swimmer's beach

The park entrance is 15km about 6 miles up in the hills above Hwy 95 in South Eastern BC near Skookumchuck, BC Canada. The road to the park started off as paved, two lane good quality road but about half way up it turned into broken pavement, gravel, and dirt. The campground is located on the hillside above the lake. There is a small parking area near the beach and picnic area but no room for motorhomes or RV’s. There is parking for truck and boat trailer at the boat launch and a nice long dock enclosing the swimming area on this beautiful lake. The boat launch is paved and in good repair. Stair cases to the beach making it not fully accessible or wheel chair accessible. Nice playground in campground and nice trails with bridges crossing a small creek. All sites are unserviced and mostly level. Some sites offer privacy and shade but others are very close together with no privacy or shade. Water pump with untreated water that is not safe for drinking unless boiled. No showers, no drinking water, no sani-dump. I do not advise an extended stay as it is a long drive to get water and empty tanks.

Nice quiet place like to take the kids to swim. Water is cool and clear but not too cold. Small beach area that's usually not crowded. There is a dock completely surrounding the swimming area that protects from the boats. Water is 10 to 12 feet deep by the dock.

A perfectly pleasant provincial park! There's a mixture of sites, with some suited to RVs and others more suitable for tents. The campsites on the north side, closer to the lake, are rather tightly packed and the area more forested, while the ones on the south side are less tight, but with less forest cover. There's a quaint creek flowing between several of the northern sites, with a trail leading to the lake. The Park's lakefront has a boat launch and dock beside the beach; there's also a short shore trail leading to a trout hatchery. The summer water is still very cool, but thoroughly swimable. The campground is also equipped with an excellent playground for kids. Nearby, there's a closet for BYO solar water shower bags. Campsites were $25/night and firewood was $10/bundle. In August-September 2019 there was a bear in the area, and skunks are known to inhabit the area. Lots of chipmunks, squirrels, and chickadees. There's a couple nearby trails to small lakes, the main branch (Turtle, Canuck, and Yankee Lakes) can be done as a loop in 2 to 3 hours.

So beautiful! We went there for a day of fishing and I got to watch them stock the lake with 26,000 trout! They said they were putting in 50,000 this season. Beautiful place, clean, clear water, eagles swooping overhead, fish jumping, perfect place for a day away and out in nature!

Great place out of the way to sit back and relax and unlike some of the out of the way places you can still catch a cell signal here. There are no services to any of the sites but there is well water and the onsite staff keep things clean and campers in check. The swimming area is great on hot days and if you are an avid hiker or love to kayak this is a place you need to check out. Book a reservation if you can at discovercamping.ca

Amazing provincial park for the summer. There's an easy 8km hike from the campground. The lake is perfect for swimming/paddle boats, etc. The only downside is drinking water should be treated. There's a boil water advisory.

This place is stunning. A hidden gem. The lake is just warm enough and so clear you can almost always see the bottom. Great day hikes, awesome playground, and well kept clean sites.

Incredible location. After camping in various provincial parks in home province of Manitoba, as well as Jasper and Banff and a few other places, we wanted to try something new. Thought that this location a bit off the beaten path would be a little less busy but despite the last few km of the drive in being on exciting gravel roads, the place was almost full when we showed up for a few days in July. The people who camp here seem to be mainly repeat visitors who have been bringing their families for years and have gotten to know each other well. Very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Lots of dogs off leash but not a problem as long as you don't have daughters that are afraid of animals like me. Good location for swimming, quiet boating, lots of different hiking trails.

One of the nicest spots in the east Kootenays. Beautiful fishing lake. Great swimming and dock area. The lack of dog friendly beach area is not the best but the campsites are usually pristine. The creek that runs thru the site is great for keeping the kids cool and busy but can get quite mosquito ridden in the summer. The kids part is stellar.
