Outstanding accommodations! We stayed for four nights in Suite 11 with 2 adults and 2 children. Perfect set-up with room for everyone - separate bedroom with 2 queen beds plus living/dining area. Gorgeous ocean views towards Fortress Louisbourg. Stylish, newly decorated and updated. Very comfortable beds with luxe linens. Small kitchenette with fridge and cooktop, and coffee/tea in the room. Restaurant onsite for dinners and brunches. Small beach onsite was surprisingly warm and very quiet and private. The new owners (Colin & Justin, design duo from Scotland) are very hospitable - a breath of fresh air after passing so many shuttered businesses and restaurants in the region.

Unfortunately, this place looks a lot better than it is. I can’t speak for the food… because it never arrived. We were the only people in the establishment for a short time, where they took our drink and food orders. Slowly, as people started arriving and ordering, they were getting served before us. Usually not a problem, but we waited over an hour for our food, when the establishment wasn’t busy at all. We alerted a waitress that we were still waiting for our order, to which she replied, “it’s almost ready.” This was not the same waiter that took our order in the first place, and it sounded a lot like saving face. Then she says, “we lost the slip, what was your order again?”. We decided that we were not in the mood to continue waiting for our food, especially when they can’t keep track of an order slip. As we were walking out, she says, “are you coming back?” Well no, no we will not be coming back. Went down the street to the Spoondrift Café and saw the two owners of North Star eating lunch there. Interesting. Would not recommend if you want food at all.There was a fella that left before us because they got his order wrong. Waitress let us know this and wanted us to stay. Not something you should share with customers.

Had an excellent brunch here with a beautiful atmosphere. Lots of compliments on the decor from our party and neighbouring parties. Kid friendly. Bottomless coffee!

The people working there were super sweet and kind and when we went in the restaurant the food was delicious and the rooms were tidy and the beds were amazing

Amazing spot!!! Rooms were lovely. Food, music and atmosphere at The Bothy were fantastic and breakfast the next morning was delicious. Staff and Colin & Justin were so welcoming. Would highly recommend and my only disappointment was that we weren’t there for longer!

Fab lunch. Great burger and blue cheese and blueberry salad. My husband had the chowder.
