If you are into Montreal history you are in the right place. The rooms are filled with information and audio to help you understand the history. The only thing that would make it better is being a bit interactive and have stuff that could be interesting for kids. It is not that big and lighting is not the best.

Heritage site (well-maintained) complete with botanical garden, artifacts, reconstructions, digital audio/visual presentations, artwork (painted reproductions, wooden sculptures, etc., etc.), and reenactment of soldiers (full garb) marching through the streets. There is much to see and sample, including guided activities that offer real insight into the realities facing habitants and nobility of the time. Kids are welcome, though parents must secure a calm and polite exploration of the premises' offerings. I visited for 2.5 hrs with my two boys, aged 4 and 6. They loved it!There is a chest containing articles of clothing from the epoch. Especially neat were the wooden clogs, available in adult and children's sizes).A glimpse into our past and heritage. Well worth the time.

Well worth a visit. I did expect more original interior layouts but it is more of a museum with displays. Very informative and educational. Perfect for a tourist not from the area who wants to learn about one of the founding families of Toronto.

Beautiful garden and exterior. Almost the entire ground floor has been renovated and isn’t staged as a house so it doesn’t really have the same charm. The basement is probably the best part as it’s actually staged. Many of the audio devices were out of order. Still worth the visit in my opinion as the basement and gardens are lovely. The gift shop has some really nice items, not standard gift shop stuff but they have jewellery and pottery instead.

This is a small museum with a lot of colonial artifacts. I enjoyed going through the bottom floor and thinking about what it would be like in the snow. There were some interactive pieces etc, I went mostly to dodge the hot weather but enjoyed my time there. The outdoor garden was interesting and free.

It is very entertaining and fun to know a little history, it is a good place to bring children. you can hear a bit of history in some languages, the governor's house is very beautiful and takes you for a moment to the past showing you objects from before! I think it is very good that they show us the history of Montreal! highly recommended

Nice exhibits, with audio to add some color to the vignettes. Lower level is interesting to see the stone arches.

Nice place in the middle of Montreal, free gardens to mimic the old times French gardens. There's a guided tour which is free to ticket buyers and is recommended.

This was a great spot to visit. The museum focuses on the history of this house in particular and its owners. I liked the audio displays and listening to them while we saw the artifacts.

Historic governors mansion, exhibits full of the history of both the house and the history of Quebec. Covers the foundation of the province all the way to the 20th century. Further exhibits on the Intuit and Arctic exploration. At the time of this writing the basement was undergoing renovation but was able to be visited. The second floor (where the ghost stories" are talked about) are offices and a conference room
