BC Live Spot Prawns & Fresh Seafood

The freshest, tastiest, sweetest seafood you will ever eat! I picked up 13 lbs of spot prawns to share with my friends. We were all a little squeamish because they were still jumping, but they couldn't be any fresher. We decided to save the heads for spot prawn stock, deep fried prawn head spiders. So we had to remove the heads . No problem! Just wear gloves and go for it! The spot prawns came right off the boat I watched coming in! They don't size them so you get what you get. But I separated 4 lbs of it and I'd say 95% of them were HUGE!!! Even the small ones were a little bigger than the 31/40 size shrimp. There was a little wait for the boat to come back but it was worth it! They keep you updated on Facebook and Instagram Story so you get a rough idea when to head over to the dock. I'd go a little earlier if you haven't pre-ordered because it is amazingly busy. Even though the line was pretty long we got our prawns quickly. They are pretty efficient at weighing and work fast. They are also very responsive via IG dm and FB Messenger, if you have any questions. They try hard to be very accommodating. I noticed that they quickly offer you a refund or guaranteed product next available day on pre-orders when the boat had a mechanical problem. Definitely will buy again from BC Live Spot Prawns. Excellent people, service and product.

I've ordered fresh and frozen seafood 3 times so far this year. I'm very impressed with the friendly service and food quality.The busy spot prawns season was well managed so waiting time was minimal. I also liked that they gut the whole fresh sockeye before selling. They even offered me extra heads when I told them I was making fish stock with the head and bones!I tried both pickup and delivery. Both services were smooth and efficient. Having halibut cheeks delivered to my front door and eating them fresh for dinner that night was such a treat.I've only tried one of my frozen orders so far. Scallops. Easy to defrost in their vacuum pack. Excellent quality.I am a very satisfied customer!

I first want to state that I understand it’s a tough business and everything is unpredictable, but they should not offer pre-order delivery if they know it’s difficult to fulfill the orders on time. I placed an order for spot prawn deliveries, followed up to make sure everything is in order and was told via email everything is ok but on the day of delivery nothing came. No communication and when I called the number the guy on the phone was stressed out and hung up on me. I got a call later from an employee and he was also super stressed and said it’s out of his control and that the “girls forgot to pack it” and started getting frustrated at me for their own mistake. I was told delivery is 3:30 to 6:30pm and I didn't get them until 8:30pm when everyone already went home. Without me rambling along, my best suggestion to everyone if you live in Vancouver is to not go for delivery and instead just drive out somewhere to to buy them in person or in my case just drive out to your local T&T or Sungiven and buy it there and save yourself some headache.Spot Prawns: 10/10Service: 1/10

This is a fabulous service, matched only by the top notch product.We’ve been ordering from Darin and BC Spot Prawns for several years now and we’re so grateful to the lengths he goes to deliver sustainable, high quality seafood to Calgary.Born on the coast, there is nothing as good as great quality seafood. That’s hard to get in the prairies! BC Spot Prawns consistently is able to deliver professionally packaged, outstandingly high taste, diverse products on a reasonable timeframe and at an even more reasonable price point.Look: Our environment is changing and fishing was never easy at the best of times. Does that mean the deliveries can change or be delayed? Absolutely. But that’s the price of a sustainable service to the prairies. Yes, delivery delays could be communicated better and the web site could reflect challenges on the ocean, but I never doubt Darin is working hard to make good on our orders and I know he’ll always make it right in the end. Moreover, the prices are reasonable because Darin is doing the hard labour AND the customer relations. That isn’t easy and I, for one, am grateful for his efforts and service.I can’t recommend BC Spot Prawns highly enough. I just encourage you to understand our changing world and have patience: Darin has never let me down and I know he won’t let you down either.

Very poor experience. Pre-ordered for spot prawns opening day May 16- prepaid and guaranteed for pickup. Went to pickup around 4pm. NO PRAWNS, and apparently their boat didn’t catch enough? No communication indicating this was the case, drove all the way there for a guaranteed order and left disappointed. Multiple other frustrated customers in the same boat “no pun intended.” No compensation offered at all or solution. Was a previous customer and recommended this place. No more!!

I made a reservation online for 6 pounds of spot prawns and planned to pick them up at 10 a.m. today. However, when I arrived, I was informed that they were out of stock and that the prawns would only be available tomorrow. I drove for 40 minutes to get here, but ended up leaving empty-handed, with no prior notification or information provided. The owner's attitude was extremely rude, without any hint of an apology.

Can’t believe spend $280 bought 10lbs dead spot prawns! Pre-order 10lbs live spot prawns delivered to my house, I open immediately and all prawns was dead. I order spot prawns every year but never get dead. I was planning to make as sashimi, but you can see after cook how bad is this quality. This season is for live sport prawns. If you can’t guarantee the quality of delivery just don’t do it! Really bad experience! Don’t buy anything sport prawns from them!

Best fish in the lower mainland delivered to your door!!! I have been buying fish regularly from this family owned business for the past 3 years and the quality of their products is always excellent, and their service is consistently friendly and quick too. Highly recommend them!!

Friendly team, amazing prawns! It was our 3rd year in a row buying spot prawns here, and as always they were fresh, plump and kicking. Threw them on the grill to start off our summer bbq season, finished with some garlic butter, and it was absolutely delicious. We'll definitely be back for more!

Love these guys who work hard to bring us the best and freshest spot prawns. I buy from them every year and so conveniently located at the Ladner Wharf. This is the second time for me this year and I'm getting more next week. Don't miss out Ladner community!
