If you want the best vet then Dr. Heather Smith is your person. Been going here for the last 20 something years and have had many pet emergencies and every time She's saved my pets, no matter the time of day she's willing to come in in case of emergencies when needed. She is honest and tells you what options you have and what most likely the problem is, and doesn't pressure you into doing unnecessary tests. Having her as a vet puts my mind at ease knowing that when needed my pets get the absolutely best care and treatment.

Buffalo Head has been our preferred vet for several years. Our previous dog just loved going to vet! Our animals are all so well taken care of here!

Dr. Heather is awesome! She has been our dog's vet for years. She truly cares about your animals and is reasonably priced. I recommend her to everyone I know with pets, and told others to get a pet so you can meet her.

My 3 year old cat was not thoroughly checked over and passed away not even a week after getting treated. I told them about a wound that was most likely an abscess on his chest. They managed to find another abscess and drained it. They should've put an e collar on him which would've prevented him from opening up the abscess on his chest that they missed which caused him some massive bleeding which I managed to stop. I cleaned it up and since he was already on antibiotics I didn't think he needed to see the vet again. Sunday evening I found him collapsed in his litter box unable to move and called them not knowing they were even open after hours where to my surprise somebody had picked up the phone. Sadly he passed away shortly after I made the call and so I called again to let them know he was gone. Despite that they didn't get the message from whoever I talked to that night and the next morning I get a call from the vet apologizing about not hearing her pager and wondering how he's doing. Unfortunately I was not in the mood to call back and now I don't plan to call them because they're just not good at listening. He survived what I believe was ataxia at a young age where he was almost put down by the same clinic which kept him overnight and as far as I know they didn't do anything and instead of giving me back the money I already paid for him to be put to sleep, they charged me for a bunch of expensive cat food I didn't need or want and prescribed him meds for a heart murmur they discovered he had where I was told he had to take for the rest of his life. I didn't buy into that and he lived like any other normal healthy cat. He was the first pet I ever took care of and will most likely be the last as I can't imagine experiencing the pain that comes from losing your pet especially when it could've been prevented. If I ever was to take care of another pet, the last place I would take them is here.

After searching the entire city of Lethbridge, we finally decided it was worth the drive to take our boy Duke here. They are friendly, honest, and aren't there just to make a pretty penny off of you. They were super patient and gentle with Duke, who had never been to a vet before. Definitely our top pick and 100% worth the drive.

I have been using Buffalo Head Veterinary for 4 years and I can honestly say they are more than just caring in all their dealings with the animals both large and small. I is truly refreshing to have a facility like theirs who care first for the well being of the animal, but also the care and attention they give the owners is second to none. Fantastic care given and keep up the wonderful caring outpouring to both our special friends and us.

This morning on my way into work I found a young kitten staggering across the road. I stopped to move it off, and when I got closer I saw it had been injured. Wrapped it in a towel. Buffalo animal clinic told me they didn't have an opening for an exam and also did not have an opening for an emergency euthanasia. When I asked if they had suggestions they said to “try someone else”. I am so very unimpressed to say the least!!

Heather is amazing, and also amazing at what she does, and so is her team! She has been our chosen family vet for all of our furbabies. She is patient, very, very patient! Kind, fun, loving, and extremely compassionate. She has always been spot on with her diagnosis. And it is always so fast. I worry ALOT when it comes to my girl, and Heather is always great at having that patience and putting me at ease. I cannot say enough great things about this team at Buffalo head. I love the close relationship we have. How they love each and every fur client that enters the door. We are truly blessed to have Heather and her team. There is no one else we trust better than them. Truly amazing!
