Symphony Senior Living Kanata

Although I am a very new member of the Symphony Senior Living Kanata, my first experience with the Community Relations Coordinator: Gabrielle Boire was most enchanting !! Through her I walk into Symphony. Fromthe virtual visit with them, and the subsequent exchanges of email. They have been most attentive to my queries and needs at any particular time. I have no doubt to entrust my family in the caring hand with compassionate hearts of all the staff in this Senior Living HOME. I am expecting me and my family will be In Concert with Our Lives at Symphony. .

Wonderful place to work. Everyone is so kind and welcoming. I felt part of the team on my first day. I would also recommend this place to anyone looking for a new home away from home. The care staff are so caring and loving. So many activities and events go on here and everyone seems to enjoy them!

This place is not a good place to leave your parents or grandparents at. The staff do not take good care of anyone who requires real care. One quick example is them leaving a patient on the toilet who cannot move from their couch to the bed without assistance. They left her on the toilet for over an hour waiting for someone to come bring her back to her bed... this is not a caring place for end of life. I would also give them zero stars if it was possible.

My mom moved in this June. She wasn't happy about leaving her place but she was falling a lot and were very happy when we could 'tick' off all her requirements- privacy, flexibility, walk out patio, activities, care, and having her pet with her when we visited Symphony. We saw other places but they didn't have the atmosphere that Kanata Symphony did. Everyone is so friendly and relaxed. Even though she said she didn't 'need' friends, she has made them and really enjoys the staff and activities. She is never in her room. The home's pets are a big plus too, makes it feel like home. The food and care is excellent. We are involved in her care plans and get regular updates so we don't worry about her anymore. It's really been the best decision for our whole family. Thanks again!! It is a challenge to move a parent with memory loss out of her home and even more difficult during the threat of COVID 19. Our anxiety about how Mom would adjust was relieved the morning after her move when we received an email from the staff showing a smiling Mom with a new friend. During COVID restrictions we found the staff to be responsive and supportive of our questions and anxieties. Always willing to check for her personal supplies so we could shop for anything she needed. During patio door visits, staff put their own phones on speaker so that we could talk to Mom. We love to check facebook and see the activities and photos and love when staff send us a video – like when Mom got balloons for Valentines Day. We are very grateful that Mom settled so quickly and is happy. We think the activities and social contact with people of her own age led her to say “I would be quite happy to stay here for 3-4 years”.

Our dad is very happy here. We are extremely comfortable with his care at Symphony. The wonderful staff make Symphony a home and people that come to visit always comment positively about the friendliness of the staff. The management is extremely accommodating to our requests and we always feel welcome to come in and do therapy, share a meal or just enjoy the entertainment with all the fantastic residents that call Symphony Kanata home.

My experience with Symphony was great. During this trying time on our family's life they were very attentive to our needs. Symphony's service is top-notch.

Beautiful community inside and out. Symphony Kanata makes you feel at home with it's charming look and caring staff. I highly recommend this home for all family and friends.

The only place I would ever call Home away from Home. Symphony Kanata has a great Management team, the most caring nurses and resident specialists, the best meals and snacks and hands down the best entertainment and activities! Also, Winston and Buddy make you feel that much more at home. Symphony Kanata is a true “home away from home”

When dealing with a beloved parent diagnosed with both Alzheimers and Dementia, it is inevitable that we would face grief and fear and worry. How can we be sure she will be safe when she is so very dependent and lost? How can we put her in a home when she desperately wanted to stay in her own home - where she was no longer safe. We were devastated, stressed, and terrified of making the wrong choice. In fact, our first choice did not work out, and we had to move her again to get a better care program. The move to Symphony Senior Living Kanata was the best thing we have done!After a relatively brief adjustment period, our beloved mother and mother-in-law has settled at Symphony Senior Living Kanata in a way that fills us with relief, comfort, and as much joy as we can manage in this situation. I am in awe of the change. Now when we phone, instead of a litany of confusion and loneliness and fear, we get only a few minutes conversation before we are told she has to go see her friends. She is too busy to talk to us because she can hear activities going on outside her room, and she does not want to miss anything. She can't remember anyone's name, and has no idea where she lives, but she is busy and is having fun.It is an enormous comfort to see pictures and video on Facebook that make it very clear she is, indeed, having fun. Today we got an email update with details of her adjustment, which is such a great benefit when covid regulations block visits.Thank you to all the staff at Symphony Senior Living Kanata. We are so relieved to see our mom happy. Every time she says she has to let us go on the phone so she can be with her friends I do a happy dance.
