In the case of Joseph Montanaro real estate broker in Westmount who plead GUILTYOf allowing, permitting, or requestingSomeone to complete courses for Joseph Montanaro so to maintain his licence to practiceThis agency agreed to. Pidly $ 20,000.00 fine which is pocket change for Montenaro and an insult to anyone who thinks this organization supposedly regulates the industry.Any other broker found guilty of this fraud would have had his licence REVOKED or at the very least suspended. If those courses that Mr Montenaro did not take himself to maintain his licenceWHY ON EARTH IS HE ABLE TO MAINTAIN HIS LICENCE ?????This organization is incompetence at its best.

Just called customer service. A lady could not give any piece of useful information at all! I do not understand why she is there. It is a waste of citizen's tax money and time... OACIQ should hire some professionals who understand the basic knowledge of real estate transaction. OACIQ should.also train their stuffs in order better to help public, which is their mission...Can't believe what just experienced on the phone....

Not worth the time to make a complaint. Called them to ask what I should do because my issue didnt neatly fit their online template. was told that I should file and that someone will call me to discuss the issue. Waited 2 months for the complaint to be closed , was never contacted by the analyst.Better to just avoid realtors and the OACIQ all togeather.

Horrible organization which does nothing to protect the public. Don't bother bringing any complaints regarding fraudulent behavior by one of their members, they will pretend to investigate for a year and than claim that there was no wrongdoing. The organization is essentially a façade for the industry to pretend it's self regulating, in reality RE agents have carte blanche to defraud members of the public as they see fit.

One of the worst organizations I've ever had the displeasure of trying to cooperate with. I cannot wait until my training is complete so I can just transfer my license to a different province.Constantly after people's money for 0 service, guidance or support. This is again why Quebec's largest export will always be their students and workers.

What a shame, shame on you and your brokers, playing highest bids for houses, creating price wars for people, your brokers are playing games with people, extended offer hours to get the highest bidders, more money, more greed, shame on such institutions, nothing justifies this bidding wars

They do not fulfill their legal obligations and protect the public from bad brokers. We had a broker that they (OACIQ) found to have been in the wrong but they said they would not post the issue on the brokers file publicly. How else will the public know this broker should be avoided.

Bluntly put, they are thieves. I was an accredited broker who didn't practice the profession as I am also a CPA with a full time career. I decided to put my brokerage ambitions on hold and suspend my license. Each year, like clockwork, I'd pay for my dues and suspend my license for the year. In 2022, I did not renew it on time for legitimate reasons and was told that I need to redo the OACIQ exam again regardless. The organization does nothing to remind you of your dues or renewal obligations but will send you periodic emails about continuous professional development. I spent over ten thousand dollars doing the program, exam fees and professional dues and got no value from them. They rely on this clause within their bylaws to force people to redo exams so they can collect fees. Extremely dissapointing.

It’s a joke! Not helpful at all, provided no guidance. It’s just smoke and mirrors to fool the the population when in fact they protect fraudulent real estate brokers/agents. Huge waist of time.
