This shelter is clean and the cats are well taken care of, however the staff are not helpful and don't answer the phone. I called seven times and left three messages and did not get a response. When I visited the shelter to adopt a cat, they were very thorough on screening the application - which is good - however they were unreasonable about actually adopting any of the cats out. My home was deemed inappropriate by the staff member for the cat that I wanted to adopt. I appreciate them taking care in this but there was no room for discussion or compromise when I tried to explain my circumstances. The staff member has a very black and white picture of what is the 'perfect home' for each cat and there is no room for anyone else's (including the cats?) ideals on this. It's no wonder there are 60+ cats there and some have been there for over seven years, it seems they are not really adoptable.

In total, over 15 years, I have adopted 3 cats from the Arnprior Humane Society. Adia, Neeve, and Angora.I always have such a great experience when I go there. The staff are incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and helpful.2 of the cats had minor health issues when they were adopted and they gave me medication and taught me how to use it and what to do in the future for their conditions. They have soooo many cats! They are thankfully a no-kill shelter but they are definitely overrun. Please adopt from them instead of purchasing. :-)

Wonderful staff and beautiful loving animals that need homes! We adopted from here and I can't say enough good things about this place. Go visit for 10 minutes....guaranteed you'll want to bring a few furry friends home!

We just adopted a cat from there today and we're very pleased with the service that we received. The staff we found to be very helpful and very friendly and very caring about their animals. What was even more impressive was the number of volunteers that came in to show care and attention to the cats. There are many cats there that need homes

Best humane society I've ever been to. You are allowed to come and pet all the animals for as long as you want. The staff are friendly and helpful and encourage animal interaction. I would recommend the drive out to Arnprior for a pet. The animals are well taken care of.

Adopted a 2year old cat, Jilly, that was a stray. She loves her new home. The staff are very helpful and you can tell that they love their animals and their job! Thank you Arnprior H.S

I can't say enough good things about the ADHS. I adopted two long term shelter residents, 6 year old Calliope and 8 year old Hoyt. Both cats are absolutely amazing and so obviously happy to have found a forever home after 5 and 6 years in the shelter. I'm encouraging everyone to adopt from Arnprior instead of buying. There are so many great cats there waiting for their forever home.

I adopted my cat from here and had a great experience! You can tell how hard they work and how much they care for all of the homeless cats and dogs in their care. The shelter is NO-KILL - which is amazing. It was very clean - and even had an awesome screened in out-door area for the cats to roam. I will absolutely be checking here first if I ever adopt again - and will continue to support this shelter!

The staff working at this shelter are wonderful and the animals are very well cared for. If you get the chance to visit the shelter and spend some time with the adoptable cats, you will meet some very special kitties waiting for their forever homes!

I love cats, and have owned many over the past 60 years. Yet my application to adopt one of their many cats was rejected because of a disappearance of one of my cats five years ago and I was honest about it. Unusually harsh, jusgemental attitude by the management.
