Hemlock Tattoo

Great shop ran by very professional people. Very clean and everyone was nice and welcoming. The whole process with Taylor was super easy and she really understands what ideas you'd like represented in your tattoo. As a POC, she was very good with my skin tone. Shop knows how to work with ALL SKIN TONES, which is amazing. Overall, fantastic work. I didn't feel nervous at all! I love my tattoo!

Everyone here at Hemlock is so awesome. But I mostly work with Taylor. And I just wanted to say she's been such a blessing. I have had life throw every dang curveball at me and she has been nothing but accommodating and patient. I highly recommend this shop. You ladies are such sweet souls and I will continue to use you 8for as long as life let's me haha. I received a tattoo from Janeen back in November and I was amazed by both Janeen and the studio! Such a warm and welcoming environment, that made me feel comfortable and at ease the second I walked through the door. All of the staff are amazing and I strongly stand by both the quality of the work I received, and the policies and ethics of the studio itself. My tattoo has healed wonderfully and looks amazing. Definitely will be getting tattooed here again. I cannot recommend Hemlock Tattoo enough!

Hemlock studio is the BEST place in Calgary to have a tattoo. It is a female owned and operated, inclusive and anti oppressive space where ethical consent is the focus. So, if it’s your first time getting a tattoo, the perfect space.Janeen was my tattoo artist and she was introduced to me with highest praise.First order of business was waiting for her to open her books. Then you would know exactly when your tattoo appointment would be. Before the appointment Janeen would do a video consultation where she explained the process. That was really helpful because I knew exactly what would happen to me.The day before the tattoo, she sent me a rough sketch of my potential tattoo for my approval.On the day of the tattoo, she explained what the process of the day look like. She was so gentle, kind and understanding and made the whole experience smooth. She checked in about my comfort and I felt safe. She talked to me throughout the tattooing session which helped to ease my nerves.Overall, it was an amazing experience I would never forget.

I have spent the last year getting tattoos from Hemlock! Once a month I’ve been in one of their chairs and I have the pleasure of having a full collection of all the artists. I have felt safe and respected with every visit. They all take the time to make sure you’re completely satisfied with tattoo placement and are constantly checking in on your comfort level.The studio is always clean and well maintained. Atmosphere is ~always~ light.Honestly I have a hard time going into another shop with the level of care I’ve received at Hemlock. Their studio model should be industry standard!

I have been tattooed in many different shops but Hemlock is by far my favourite! Everyone is so kind and welcoming, respectful of their clients and extremely talented! I've been tattooed by Janeen multiple times and I've always felt taken care of and looked after. The decor in the shop is lovely as well, which adds to the overall positive and comforting vibes!

What an amazing place. I had the pleasure of having my tattoo's done by Marlee. I'm so in love with the work she did and couldn't be happier. She made me feel very comfortable and I can see myself going back for another one. The shop is clean and has such a homey feeling that you forget your in a tattoo shop. I would highly recommend Hemlock.

Hemlock has always been so welcoming and comforting when I go in! The shop is very inclusive, body positive, respectful, and consent based. You know what’s going on every step of the way. Taylor has worked on two tattoos so far for me- and it’s been my best experience by far. Everyone in the shop is so great!On the shop website they provide pictures of their space and indicate how accessible it is which was great for me. Now the shop itself is not wheelchair accessible HOWEVER when speaking with an artist the website indicates they can make accommodations.Hemlock recognizes the history of tattooing which is super important considering its cultural roots!There is also many many plants. Which is good. Plants are good.There is a lot of parking in the area, I never have an issue.Can’t recommend this shop enough and I can’t wait to collect more art from these lovely artists.

Absolutely wonderful shop. Such a kind and caring environment and all the artists are so considerate of making sure you are comfortable and feel safe. I got a tattoo from Janeen and she was so lovely and the tattoo looks amazing. Will definitely be coming back here and I could not recommend the shop more.

I went to see Janeen at Hemlock last week for a thigh piece, and everything from the booking, to arriving at the studio, to the session and aftercare prep was phenomenal. All of the artists are incredibly kind, and Janeen went above and beyond to ensure I was happy with the tattoo, and comfortable during the appointment. I can't recommend Hemlock enough!
