We have lived in Sidney for over a decade but have never tried J kitchen. We will not be going back. The previous reviews looked great, but we found the food and service very poor for the incredibly inflated price tag. The portions are less and the pricing is more than you would find in classier restaurants in Downtown Vancouver or Toronto. We went with a family of 5 the youngest did not eat with us but we were charged a gratuity for as we were a party of 5. The waitress reached over and selected the tip on the machine even as we said he did not order a meal so shouldn’t be part of the party. He is 4 year old with Autism. Really? We weren’t even greeted and served our own water. We didn’t get stellar service for a 30 dollar tip on a 156 dollar bill! The food was bland, over priced and the sushi was pre-made and sat around all day. So disappointed in what we paid vs what we received. I hate to write poor reviews, but this place gave us such a horrible experience.

Super great food! We got take out but the tempura was 10/10 super big size with light and crispy batter that was perfectly fried. We also got the sushi platter which was fantastic with a large range of different rolls! The staff were also super lovely and there wasn’t a long wait for food. Definitely recommend for an easy dinner.

We have been coming to J Kitchen since they opened. It has come a long way since those days. The menu is larger, the food is better and the staff is faster. Our meal was tasty, authentic and quick. The tempura was very good. The sizzling bibimbap was very tasty as well. I think the prices are also worth noting as they are not gouging, like so many other places. Give this place a try!

Food is good but the portions are so incredibly small. Paid $22 for sashimi dinner bento and the sashimi was so thinly sliced, there was barely anything there. Would not recommend this place if you’re hungry.

I understand that sometimes the food doesn't come in high qualityBut ignoring our complaint and making us pay full amount of the meal that's not how you solve problems.Unfortunately I won't recommend this place.Be better with your customers

Hit the spot after a long touristy day. Good prices and delicious. Tuna poke bowl was great - lots of fresh fish, avocado and rice. I had hot pot bibimbap and it was also good.

Wow! Excellent food and service. Very simple looking restaurant, not fancy at all, but everything I ate was to die for. We left full and happy, our expectations absolutely exceeded. Between two us we shared chicken teriyaki bowl, spicy tofu soup, and veggie tempura udon. All excellent and we were stuffed, and we are big eaters. Also, as an added bonus the bill only came to 33$ including tax, which is less than a meal out usually costs us in the Sidney area (we didn't have any drinks). Highly recommend, we will be visiting again very soon!

We’ve dined here twice, once we sat inside and the service and food were great. The next time the restaurant was full so we got bento boxes to go for lunch and sat on the seawall overlooking the ocean. The food was wonderful and we had everything we needed packed in our bag by the restaurant. This is definitely one of our favourite places to eat in Sydney.
