Michael & Marion's and The Side Door
The place has a nice ambience but was on the noisy side. The service was excellent but the food was lacking.My pasta of the day, seafood mac and cheese, had the tiniest, shrimp and scallops I’ve ever seen and just a sliver of lobster. The cheese sauce was more of an Alfredo-style sauce which I didn’t mind.The chicken breast my lady friend had was bone-in which never mention on the menu. This made part of the breast dry. As for the fig apricot and plum marmalade, she wasn’t impressed saying it lack any kind of sweetness.

If you have not been to Michael & Marion's then what are you waiting for? The food is incredible, the dining area is so cute, the atmosphere is wonderful and feels very comfortable and the service was amazing. Jade, our server, was super sweet and gave great recommendations. I had the Lobster ravioli and it was incredible, the sauce was to die for. When Jade found out it was my birthday, she brought us each a flute of champagne. Will definitely be trying a new martini next time. My husband and I will be eating here again and again.

We have had our office luncheons there 2 years in a row. The upstairs is amazing with our own hostess/waitress. The drinks and food were amazing. The staff was very friendly and accommodating- Kelsey, you rock! We all felt that she was exceptional in her trade and exceeded our expectations. Very accommodating for food allergies and preferences. Made us feel like family. Thank you again M&M.

I used to love Michael & Marion. Food was amazing and Ken (the owner) was usually there to greet you.With the pandemic things have gotten difficult for restaurants and I guess the quality and quantity of the food has decreased.We ordered 1) chicken with bacon and 2) lobster ravioli. Additionally, we asked for some bread (no picture included) which was just pieces of bread warm up from a supermarket loaf of bread. Not really impressed with the presentation of this bread. I don't think we will be ordering from here any time soon.

It is a shame. This restaurant offers a great location, a comfortable atmosphere and a great staff. We have been regular bi-weekly clients since moving to Barrie two years ago. During that time there has been several times when due to the food we have avoided this location. After last nights dinner, we will be avoiding it again. Steve/Laura

My family and I have been to Michael & Marion’s / the side door several times now, and it never disappoints. The menu is always outstanding, with amazing new dishes to try and the exceptional recipes we always enjoy. The quality of the food is consistently excellent, and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Ryan and Nicky were very attentive and accommodating with an amazing attitude and friendly demeanour. The owners Kent and Krista were so kind enough to send over glasses of champagne as a way to commemorate and honour my late husband’s and I’s wedding anniversary. The atmosphere is cozy and has an amazing ambiance with live music. Overall, this is a great spot for a special occasion or just a nice date night out. Thanks again Kent and Krista and their amazing staff, we always feel welcome and can’t wait to celebrate more things to come.- Lesley Mooney and Family ❤️

Last night I hosted a surprise birthday dinner for my wife, complete with family and friends. The dinner party was held in the upstairs lounge, as there were 16 of us.We were looked after by Taylor and Kate, and they catered to us like we were royalty.The drink service was timely, the food hot and delicious.I’ve eaten there before, personally and in business, so I was already a fan.Last night’s experience exceeded my expectations.A shout out to Michael and Marion’s and specifically to Kate and Taylor.

I have dined at Michael and Marion’s a number of times but this was my first time ordering takeaway. I needed to order dinner for 10 guests that we were serving “buffet style” and Kent was amazing at helping me select options that would reheat well as I was bringing the food up to a cottage to be served 8 hours after pickup. The food was amazing and did not taste at all like it was reheated. Super fresh and delicious! Kent offered us such a reasonable price per person and very generous portions. We had lots of leftovers for the following day. Would definitely recommend M&M’s for catering a special event or if you have a large number of guests who you don’t feel like cooking for!

Michael & Marion’s and the Side Door is a fantastic venue for an intimate date, birthday anniversary or Christmas party and to no end, a Bridal Shower for brunch & bubbly which is what we recently held for my daughter. The quaint, charming décor made it a memorable time for all involved. Kent Smith and his staff, our servers extraordinaire Kate, Taylor and Marjory and Paulina who were in the kitchen worked over and above to make this a very memorable day. Don’t be shy, we held this event on a Sunday and Kent accommodated. Shout out to Kent and Krista for their inviting and welcoming atmosphere. Thank you!

Michael & Marion's and The Side Door
We visited this restaurant for our anniversary celebration. We are from Barrie, m we simply called the restaurant and went down. We were pleasantly surprised!! The food and presentation were great and Ryan, Isabell were amazing, they thoughtfully split our mai course as we wanted to share. Our food was prepared in a very timely manner, loved the ambiance as well.
