Their staff, Scott is so amazing. Yesterday my son and I were on our way to pick up my order, it was raining heavily, we would arrive in their store at the last minute before the door closed based on Google map. He cares in our safety and asked us to wait for him to drop off because he will just go through this area, we are lucky to meet a kind person to help us although the bad weather. I will also recommend this book store to my friends.

Very professional and helpful staff, variety of books and easy accessible store, bought grade 9 books and was available, thanxs and keep providing gud services to all, highly recommended

TERRIBLE customer service!!!The staff are polite and want to help but the Manager won't allow it and is caustic and argumentative. He will not listen. He will also not allow anyone to speak with the owner. I ordered and paid for school books for my children in July. I received an email on Aug 11 saying the books had been shipped and was given a Purolator tracking #. After a week the package hadn't arrived so I tracked the tracking #. It showed that the books never left Alpha books. I sent an email asking when they would be delivered. 2 days later, my husband also sent an email. No response to either. A few days later, I called and got a very rude person who I have since found out was the Manager. Without even bringing up the tracking # he told me that the books were delivered and I must have lost them. I had to ask several times for him to please look up the tracking #. When he final did, he said Purolator was wrong and I needed to take it up with them. I followed up with Purolator who confirmed that a shipping label was created but no order was there for pick up. When I called Alpha again, I got the same response. When I called a third time, I got a different staff member who listened and responded that they would look into and fix the problem. He called me back 2 hours later letting me know that he spoke to the Manager who said that even though the 1st order was not sent, that they would send out a replacement order right away ONLY IF I PAID AGAIN. I explained to the staff member that it makes no sense that I would pay a 2nd time for something that by now everyone agrees I didn't receive the 1st time. I sent and email explaining how this was ridiculous and that my kids are now attending school without the books I need hoping that it might go to the owner but unfortunately it went to the same Manager so it was ignored. After 7 phone calls and 3 emails. The company is still taking the same position. They have acknowledge that the 1st order never left their warehouse but WILL NOT SEND UNLESS I PAY AGAIN. When I spoke to the Manager for the last time today, I asked if he would pay again for something that he ordered that never showed up and his response... If I wanted my kids books bad enough I would" !!!"

Great books, perfect condition. The people working there were all very nice and generous. A man working there delivered a book to me in the heavy rain. 5/5

Amazing! Scott was such a great guy to chat with and so knowledgeable! All the staff really spends time to make sure you're getting exactly what you need and help you to know all your options. They're very flexible and easy to work with!

They came to a school in York regions to sell books. An used book was purchased for $88. Turns out, the book was not being used for the course, so it was brought to their store 16 days later. They said you can't finish your course in 3 weeks and expect to bring it back. I was willing to pay a reasonable amount or a restocking fee because I understand brick and motor locations need to stick around, but they were only willing to buy it back for $37. I'm all for supporting local shops, but their policy and the approach by the store associate is ridiculous. Amazon and Chapters wouldn't have this problem.

I have been going here for years to get all the text books we needed . An excellent staff, they spend time with you and will find all the items needed !

I've purchased all of the textbooks for my business through Alpha Textbooks and they've always been extremely supportive and kind! Scott especially is amazing, and has been very helpful. Would definitely recommend this place :).

Final update - avoid this company! They say they buy books back but effectively (as far as I can see) they just take them. I was told that they needed to quarantine any book you left with them for 2 weeks and then they would contact to advise of their buy back rate. Three and a half weeks later (including an email follow-up) and there has been no contact from them.---------------------------------------------Updated - this company is terrible at responding to emails. They just ignore their general email box. Why even have an email on your site if you aren't going to respond to anything? I am lowering my rating as this is beyond ridiculous to force people to call you to get information.---------------------------------------------Original review - General experience has been good but this year had to chase them for a refund. Recommend more attention to emails from customers. However had a good conversation with them and hear their intent to offer a good customer experience. Changed my rating to reflect this effort on their part.
