What a beautiful place for dogs while waiting for their furrever home. They receive excellent care and love during this part of their lives.This no-kill sanctuary is very well kept and cherished by so many. Mackenzie's staff, and volunteers go above and beyond to create an ideal environment for each and every dog.Keep up the great job you're all doing!

Could not recommend enough. A friend referred me here after I had a horrible experience at a different shelter. It was so refreshing to have a process to follow and transparency about the dog I was interested in adopting. Most shelters give you one picture and let you meet the dog once. At Makenzie's, we met the dog, were given a complete health briefing, got to spend one-on-one time with the dog, then walked him. After the initial visit, we got to come back a second time. The facility is out in the boonies, but it is run very well.

We have always taken very good care of our pets... records are all up to date. Did the phone interview, then got an email a week later saying that we were denied because we didn't pass the vet check. They couldn't get any information from them. I called our vet and asked who has contacted them regarding new pet adoption applications and they gave me two of the three places that actually called... guess which one our vet said they didn't hear from... Mackenzies.

Lovely place for doggos as they wait for their forever home. We adopted our sweet Ellie here back in 2008 and my daughter and I also volunteered here for a few years. Love this place and their care for the dogs is exemplary.

Lost my border collie recently. Donated all her beds and things. Great people and place!I hope lots of dogs got to enjoy her beds.

Over 20 yrs ago we lost our 3 choc labs(mom & 2 sons) the owner of Mackenzie's found them by his work and took them to their rescue. They were just opening and our dogs were the first ones. They were wonderful to Maude, Dakota and Boomer! We were able to get our dogs back because of Mackenzie's and to this day I think about that and how wonderful they were to our dogs! I strongly recommend McKenzie's! They love animals and are so genuine and caring.

Best animal shelter I've ever been to!! They really care for the animals they take in! Their adoption process might be a bit much in my opinion, but I understand that it's to ensure the dogs are going to a great home.

I submitted an application for a dog on March 28, 2021. I was able conduct a phone interview on April 5, 2021. I believed that the interview went well and the person I spoke to was very kind. I was interested in a specific dog who was labeled to be good with cats. I was clear that I was interested in this particular dog and that I currently have a cat. After my interview they asked for my vet information and they needed two references. They called and spoke to my references on April 17, 2021. I did not hear from them until I called and left a voicemail on April 22, 2021. They finally emailed me and told me that the dog I wanted would not be an appropriate fit because of my cat and asked if I was interested in any other dogs. I inquired about another and was told he would be a good fit, they just needed images of my fenced in area before we could meet them. I sent over my images on April 24, 2021. I did not get a response until April 28, 2021. I was told that because my fenced in area was not made for dogs" and "not attached to the house" that I am not able to adopt a dog. Even though I meet the requirement of having a fairly large fenced in area AND over 2 acres of a yard in the country. Not even in a busy city. I used an entire month of my life being patient with the hope of bringing home a new companion only to be very disappointed."

What an AMAZING experience. Thank you MacKenzie's for allowing me to visit and interact with some LOVELY DOGS.We took Vera to the gym she is very smart dog. Barret to the real room. He loves to play fetch.
