The Kettle Valley Steam Railway

A lovely ride up the mountain to the US border and back in vintage carriages driven by an iconic steam loco. The trip takes a shade over an hour and a half. Some carriages are open and others enclosed (your choice). We were in the enclosed carriages but we're pleased to find that they had large opening windows to get those all important photos when the train stopped at the view point at the top.

This place is really freaking cool, especially if you are into history and trains. The train ride was an amazing and picturesque hour and a half trip through the farms and vineyards of western Summerland. The conductor also commentates throughout the ride on the history of the railway and the surrounding region. I cannot recommend this place enough to everyone!

We did the Murder Express Train .... the whole experience was great... cast were awesome... but the weather was unforgiving.... hot...hot. Everyone should do this once....

What a great immersive experience that puts the visitor back to an earlier time. I highly recommend for all ages (though not babies due to the sound volume of the steam engine and train whistle). The Summerland countryside in May is lush and the view of trout creek was spectacular.

We went for a ride to celebrate my son's 3rd Birthday. It was first time for him to see and experience real train trip. Everyone had great experience. It was fun. Views are beautiful. Employees are very welcoming and friendly.

I had a great time! So much to see and the conductor was funny and educated about the train, the route, and the history of it all. I just wish they wouldn't play the same song on repeat while boarding until departure.

So much fun taking the Kettle Valley Steam Rail. First time taking a steam rail ride. Booked online and reserved seat. Hint all the attractions on the left side. When booking seat, look at seat chart with engine in front of closed train cars and then book on left side. Commentary was well done. Volunteers are the success for the ride and many thanks to them. Gift shop available when checking in. Bring a light sweater/jacket just in case, even in a hot day, as higher elevation and train speed could surprise. Bit of a break at end before engine changes to opposite end of passenger cars. Lots of available parking. Well worth the time/money when in Summerland.
