Was planning to do a one-way rental from Mississauga to North York. Most U-Haul locations wouldn't allow this. I was disappointed to find that the majority of U-Haul locations have low ratings on Google with horror stories of double booked vehicles, no one on site, extra charges etc. My original booking was for a 9' cargo van from 1875 Leslie St Unit 24, Toronto which was one of the few locations with a decent rating. Unfortunately the availability changed and I was redirected to 29 Gervais Dr Unit 210, Toronto.My experience may be different from others because I booked through the U-Haul Truck Share 24/7 which allowed me to sign in, locate the van, log an inspection and do my ID verification from my phone. There is supposed to be a lock box to pick up the key, which would completely eliminate having to interact with staff. However that wasn't the case at this location and I went from the parking at the back to the front entrance and into the office. No one was there initially but after less than 5 mins a young guy came and gave me the key after I showed him the validation screen from the website.- HUGE RED FLAG to look out for. If you park by the wall or pick up your vehicle from the wall, check the back doors. There are metal vents on the walls which people can easily back into. The previous driver of my van backed straight into the vent and dented the door but I reported it via the website, otherwise I would have been charged. Watch out! When returning, park on the other side without a wall.- Everything else was fine, the 9' cargo van drove surprisingly well, like a regular van. The handling was fine. It was faster than expected.- Conveniently, there is an ESSO about 1 min away, so filling up on the return is easy.Overall this location wasn't as bad as I feared when reading the reviews, but everyone's experience is different.

Just got ripped off at this location buying 6 medium boxes, 5 extra large, and a single roll of bubble wrap. The guy charged us almost double the price I now see online. I'll never recommend this store to anyone

Can you just make it easier to exit or enter the parking lot once you get your truck? The parking barrier was down when I was ready to exit. I had to park the truck again and go find someone to open the gate. I went there on a Sunday, lost like 15min trying to get it open.

There are two reasons why I gave this company a low rating. Firstly, the agent told me he closed at 3 pm at checkout, even though my online booking showed 4 pm. He insisted I return the truck at 3 pm, but I explained that it was impossible. The agent said I would have to check in the truck on my phone at 4 pm. I told him I was fine with the self-check-in. However, at 2 pm, I got a call from another agent asking what time I would return the vehicle. Again, I explained that my contract stated 4 pm, so I planned to return it then. He said that was too late. I told him I was in the process of moving my furniture into storage. I was confused, why accept my business if my requested time conflicted with business hours? When I booked online, I was notified that I would get a call from an agent to confirm my booking. No one called me.Secondly, today the manager called me accusing me of stealing furniture blankets. I explained to him that I was unaware I should return the furniture pads because of my prior experience with another U-Haul dealer. He shouted that no one needed to explain anything to me. I was surprised by his flippant remark. He continued to ramble on with insults. I responded in kind. I told him that his insults were unnecessary because of a simple misunderstanding.Overall, I was surprised by the manager's lack of customer service skills. Therefore, I refuse to do business with him again or recommend his company to anyone. I returned the furniture pads an hour later. I apologized to the agent for the misunderstanding as I am not irrational like the manager.

They charged me for 3 times more distance than what I actually drove, did not email me a final receipt with the updated distance, and generally did not help resolve the issue at all.

I had an AWFUL experience with this UHaul dealer. Listen to previous reviews advising to you to avoid them at all costs.I’m not normally one to leave a review, but I believe this situation called for one.They rented us a DAMAGED truck of which we took pictures of prior to pickup. It was driveable at pickup, so we thought it’d be fine. However the van broke down further at dropoff and the top bumper flew off while my driver was on the highway.After calling UHaul and being transferred through several different people who could not help or provide us with a safer van, we managed to tape the bumper back to make it safe enough to drive to a parking lot.After weeks of going back and forth with the dealer and explaining the situation, they said it would be okay and said they would call me before sending the receipt and deal with the situation. However, after receiving no call and no receipt for days, they sent me a receipt for $300 in damages which was already on the truck!I’ve never had a worse customer service experience, so PLEASE save yourself some time by going to another uhaul dealer even if it might be a little further away. Would give 0 stars if I could.

AVOID at all costs. SCAM OUTLET FOR UHAUL RENTALS. Double charged us for the same trip. Prior review confirms my suspicions that they are scammers.Back story: Rented a truck from another uhaul dealer but was referred to this location due to availability issues. Got double charged for the uhaul return.
