Furusato Japanese Restaurant
I came here for dinner recently. The restaurant looked mediocre at best from the outside. However, it was unique and nice inside with all the interesting decor. Service was good as they offered new plates throughout the meal and the servers were friendly and dressed in Japanese clothing. In terms of food, I tried their Large Assorted Sashimi, Tempura Udon, and Dragon Eye Roll. There was quite a bit of tempura with the udon and the overall dish was comforting. The Dragon Eye Roll was crispy and decent. What stood out the most was the large assorted sashimi. All the sashimi were quite fresh, with the best being red tuna, tuna, scallop, and salmon (it also came with octopus, butterfish/white tuna, red snapper, amaebi, surf clam). The sashimi felt like a good value given the quality and price. That being said, the pieces were smaller than most places. Overall, it felt like a small hidden gem on Whyte.

We came in last week to try this place for the first time. The location area looks so sketchy and so run down from the outside.When I ordered my food I asked for an extra meat on one of the dish but they made a mistake and put it on another dish. (They apologize, and I didn't make a big deal of it)While eating, I found a hair on one of the dish. I brought it up to the server and the only respond I get is, we are sorry but we don't know where the hair is coming from but next time you ...." I cut her off while she is talking because there is no way you would expect me to come next time if you cannot even fix the issue right now. I asked for the bill and paid a full price meal.Most restaurants will offer to make it again for you or give you a discount

Honestly they are 3 stars for me, I know most Japanese restautant in YEG are running by Chinese, but this place maybe use a lot Chinese ingredients. I give 1 extra star because the staff are nice, store are clean, food are fast served.

Togo quality is terrible.I’ve never seen this thin and hard fried dynamite roll before. Roll rice is too sour like getting rotten.I’m so disappointed. Real meal is too different from pic

Furusato Japanese Restaurant
This seems to be a hidden gem in Edmonton. The staff is sweet and kind. The food delicious and worth every penny. Try the butterfly roll at the end of your meal, it's a must. My best friend brought me here and as we got close I wasn't sure but after my first bite, I fell in love.

Always a pleasure dining here. We dine in and order takeout regularly and the service is consistently great every time. The staff are friendly, the food is delicious and fresh, the menu is extensive with lots of vegetarian options, and the portions are generous, even for takeout.

So far it was one of the Fine Japanese restaurant we have been to!Seems like Chinese owner.Their miso soup was extra charge(1) but bit sweet, I guess because they add Spinach to the miso soup.My family enjoyed the Dinner and had great time!

Furusato Japanese Restaurant
On our first visit my wife and I thought this store was closed like many businesses during the pandemic, due to the unassuming exterior. We actually almost didn't try the door. To our delight, however, it was open and has quickly become our favourite sushi place in the city. The service is polite and quick, the prices are fair, and the food is fantastic. I'm particularly fond of sashimi, and there's has never once had many of the problems that often plagues that particular food. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough, I only wish they were open all days of the week.

Excellent experience. The food was fresh and good quality. Miso soup Salmon sashimi, fursoato special roll, and butterfly roll were all delicious. The service was wonderful. We will definitely be dining again

Twenty plus years ago I visited Furusato. It was the spot for sushi, I even drove once from Calgary to Edmonton and dining at Furusato was the highlight of the trip.Fast forward two decades, I brought my kids to enjoy the same sushi restaurant I enjoyed so much. The reviews were great and they got 4.5 stars according to Google.The only thing that seemed to remain the same was the decorations from 20 years ago.The ownership was changed, the place was less busy (Sat night). The seafood portion was good for the price, the major downfall was that the sushi rice was not seasoned with vinegar for the nigiri and the chirashi don. I was surprised most of the google reviews gave them a 5 stars despite this short coming. Other than that, the service was great and prompt. They even threw in a deep fried salmon head for free.
