S'amunu | Somenos Conservation Area

A wonderful assortment of paths and walks to go on. Climb the tower, the view is absolutely worth it.

The area (or park) is a nice spot to have an extended view of the surroundings.Getting there and back to the road can be a bit tricky with a direct turnoff from the main road onto gravel (and ice in the winter).The first tier of the tower is wheelchair accessible. To go further up the lookout, it is not wheelchair accessible and it can even be tricky for able bodied people. We had some ice on the steps, which made them quite tricky to climb.In general, the area has a nice information sign, fencing around the areas you're not supposed to go, and a nice lookout tower, which will give you a nice overview over the surrounding area.If you have half an hour to spend on a nice relaxed sightseeing spot, definitely consider going here!

Beautiful trails and boardwalk. Lots of birds and plants to see. For being off the highway it's quite quiet.Garbage cans are available at the entrance, however no available outhouses.

Beautiful walk when the sun sets, good for dogs, kids, couples, etc. Everyone's welcome!

Love going here for a peaceful walk. A shame how people deface and ruin the installations especially the wonderful tower.

This is a great spot for a short walk. Boardwalk trail with interpretive signs make easy to navigate and appreciate. We visited it as a rest stop on our way from Victoria to Nanaimo.

Wonderful place for bird watching. Please consider donating when you visit. Coin box by gate.

Wonderful vegetation and probably birds at the right time of day. Observation tower is worth climbing the $500 steps. Encouraged to stop here one day when traveling North on hwy 1. Watch the exit is more like a driveway on the side of the highway.

A nice walk and so many things to see and hear, especially if you are a birdwatcher
