Abalon Foundation Repairs

We recently had weeping tile with heat trace installed around our garage foundation as we were experiencing significant water incursion into the garage on our sloping property. Dustin from Abalon Construction inspected our property and provided a quote and timeline for when the project would get started. He was also very responsive throughout with any questions we had. Justin and James did the bulk of the heavy lifting and did great work. During the dig, they had to deal with existing decorative rock, patio stones, buried bricks, roots, etc. They moved a lot of dirt and everything else to lay the tile. They also removed much of the undesirable materials so we wouldn't have to. The project was quite a bit of stop and start owing to a number of factors. While this was somewhat frustrating, in the end we were very pleased with the end product. The considerable rain Edmonton has received this spring/summer has all been handled by the newly-installed weeping tile and not a drop of water has entered our garage. I would recommend Abalon Construction for this type of work with the caveat that patience is required. They are no doubt very busy and several site visits may be required to complete the work. These could be spread over several weeks as our job was.

I am very impressed with the work the Abalon crews did repairing the leak in my foundation. Lindsay, Wynd, Sandy, Justin and Garrison did an amazing job on the outside digging out and installing the weeping tile and Steve and Sean inside building the reinforced wall. Gary did the inspection and i now have a dry secure basement. Thank you all

HIRE THIS COMPANY!!!!From start to finish my experience has been one of the most professional business encounters I have ever had. FERNANDO AND JOSE (technicians) we courteous, polite, clean and knew exactly what they were doing. Brad Harding the project manager and David (office project coordinator) were very helpful during our initial call. Brad came and inspected our 30+ year old sump pit and basin that was failing. Brad took the time with me to explain the process and scope of work and made recommendations for having a 20’ stretch of interior weeping tile installed and graded towards a new sump pit (our decision to move the sump and have a new pit installed as we are finishing the basement and the old one was in a poor location and badly executed). The job was approved and work scheduled (delayed at my own fault as I was removing items from the basement). The team kept following up with me in order to schedule when I was ready for them. The crew with Fernando and Jose showed up on time the date scheduled and we reviewed the cope together. Both gentleman were clean and organized when they arrived on site. They put down drop clothes and panelling to protect our flooring and stairs and basement, all the way to the work site and around the work area. They completed the very labour intensive job and removed all of the debris and refuse from excavation, graded the trench properly, back filled with stone and drainage board / concrete and put in a beautiful new sump pit/basin/ and concrete fill. The finishing work is superior to anything I’ve ever seen in this industry and I have dealt with numerous contractors at different homes, none of which come close to Abalons crews. Pictures posted of before and after of the quality and workmanship we received. I could not be happier. 10000000% hire this company for your concrete or weeping tile / basement waterproofing needs either residential or commercial. Don’t always go with the lowest bidder either. They were a bit more expensive than some others we contacted but the service and final product shows you get what you pay for. Outstanding job guys!!!

I don't know how to add a NEW REVIEW as Google is only offering me the option to EDIT A PAST REVIEW from 2021(see below about work done to install a sump pump in 2021).This is a NEW REVIEW for WORK DONE TODAY (August 16, 2022) by Marcos and Hunter.They came by today to top up the road crush in our newly installed window wells, and in the older window wells that Abalon built for us one year ago, and 2 years ago. A total of 6 window wells needed topping up.Everything was done extremely well, with special attention to detail by Marcos for the window well where we have a cat door with a special step in place so the cats can climb over the window well wall. (see photo)Both Marcos and Hunter were extremely polite and easy to work with, and did a great job, exactly as I wished. Fernando and Jose, the men who did the work, did an excellent job on all the foundation repairs and in the installation of a sump pump in our basement. They were extremely conscientious, hard working, unfailingly polite and answered all our questions patiently, explaining whatever we didn't understand about the repair and installation process. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking to do this type of work on their home. Fernando and Jose's work is of the highest quality, no corners cut, it's all exactly as you wish it to be.

Thank you for fitting us into your busy schedule to get the work done. Fernando and his crew acted in a very professional manner. They protected the floors and cleaned up upon completing the job. We were never inconvenienced in any way. Fernando explained what needs to be done. Your company has restored my faith in Contractors after an unbelievably bad and costly renovation. As evident from the attached pictures. We were exposed to Radon gas because of the poor work done by the Contractor who did the reno.

We were very impressed and would encourage anyone to seek their services. Foundation issues are stressful and he gave us peace of mind with his in-depth knowledge, patient discussion about the situation and his recommendations.

I recently had a consultation with Brian. He came over and we discussed my concerns. He looked around the house but fortunately never found any concerns for my foundation. He reassured me about my fears and had explanations for my reasons to call. Thankfully I don’t need any repairs. Brian was on time, friendly and professional.

This past week Abalon put in a sidewalk and concrete patio for us. I was so impressed with their work. The manager, Randy Bilyk talked to me about my conceptual plan for the project, and he came up with exactly what I wanted. I didn't get to the work site until halfway through the day and when I did, the layout was precisely the way I had envisioned it. The crew of 3 that were on site were great ambassadors for Abalon. The foreman stopped to give me an update and one of the younger workers was incredibly friendly and took time to discuss some aspects of their work. I was totally impressed. I stopped in yesterday after they finished their work and everything looked magnificent. Not only had they filled in along the sidewalk and pad with black dirt and grass seed but they did the entire length of the bobcat tracks and even some dead spots on the lawn that had nothing to do with their work. I was well pleased! Well done, Abalon!

We have a 112 year old house that needed the main beam replaced, Abalon quoted well and maintained the quote even a year later when the work commenced.Due to my inexperience with a job this size as well as Abalon's insistence on handshake contracts even for a $17K job, start dates as well as expectations on preceding work like water and gas disconnects were not clearly communicated and dates got pushed multiple times, including adding a week without hot water or a furnace during the coldest wettest may in years.However the actual workmanship was fantastic and extremely professional. Steve lead a team of James John August and Marcos and they did great work.I would use Abalon again, though next time I would expect more clarity on expectations and contracted dates.

Contacted Abalon right at the start of new year they were the first ones to respond to my queries and booked an appointment right away for a visit. Brent visited my place with all his equipment and gave quotes for all the areas that needed our attention. One of the first things we did was remove the old telepost and install a new one Steve was the one who came and did the work. He was great and did an amazing work. Was right on time, very professional and the work he did was great. He cleaned up really well after he was done. I would definitely hire them again for the other areas of work and would recommend them for all your construction needs.
