Amazing little café! We decided to make the trip up from Kingston for weekend brunch and we're not disappointed. Food was incredible and the staff was lovely. Already planning our next trip up for brunch.We decided to split the french toast & breakfast club - best decision ever.

If you are considering going to The Recess Cafe or are unaware of this great little breakfast or lunch place don’t hesitate, find the time to go. You will not be disappointed. The food is excellent, the owners and staff are helpful and friendly. Price Point is great value and quality for your money. A real gem!

Excellent coffee/espresso, delicious sandwiches and desserts, super-friendly owners and staff. Thankfully no French fries or other fried food (plenty of chip trucks around for that!) A little gem on hwy 15 just south of Portland.

Absolute must stop if you find yourself in the area! Worth the drive if your from outside the area. Best coffee and baked goods!

So first of all the aesthetics of this place is a vibe. I wish I had gotten more pictures other than my meal.(the people I was with we're older and wouldn't have understood.) The bright white walls. The color scheme, the mural and the framed pictures are all awesome. I liked the robot picture and the library card framed picture.The service was second to none.The food: if I had been a smarter person I would have realized that I was getting a samwitch. Everything else was a samwitch. If I was smarter I still would have ordered the breakfast club but I wouldn't have ordered my egg sunny side up. I would have opted for a more cooked yoke but that's on me. Not their fault at all. The meal was tasty. I couldn't name all the flavours.I would have expected this lunch experience in the gleeb or westboro neighbourhoods in Ottawa not in rideau lakes. 10/10 would return.

Great food and staff was very attentive to my partner’s dairy allergy. They also have many baked goods - it was hard to choose which ones to get!!!
