Holiday Inn Laval - Montreal, an IHG Hotel

95% positive experience. The rooms were clean, the air conditioner was powerful enough to keep the room at the perfect temperature. The bed and sheets e super comfortable. Ample parking, decent location. Very quiet. Only issue was that we had rented a room for our quarterly company conference, and they would not allow us to bring food into the room (despite food and drinks already being there, provided by Holiday Inn). Ordered a bunch of pizzas for the entire group of us and received an additional fine/charge. Personally I think that's stupid to enforce a no-outside food policy when we've paid what we did to room and board staff and rent the conference room. That left a sour taste in my mouth. If you're just staying in a hotel room, it's a great location, but if you're planning on hosting a company gathering, maybe rent from a Regus or something instead of using the hotel's conference rooms.

I didn't stay at this hotel, however I was taken aback at the immense kindness of one of their workers, whose name I believe was George. I had my immigration interview at the US consulate the following morning and realized I was missing a document at 11 pm. The hotel I was staying at closed office at 10 and I needed to access a printer. Upon my wife's recommendation, I took a shot in the dark by calling hotels. The first refused but my request was happily accepted by ?George at holiday inn. Him and his co-worker were very kind and helpful in getting the documents printed. I've never left a review before, but rarely have I come across such a selflessly kind person - so wanted to leave a positive note.

The room we checked in was very smelly. We found out that its carpet was soaked with AC leaked water. When I called the front desk, I was told that someone would come to the room later and check the carpet. It was after some arguments with reception, they changed my room.AC was very noisy. Far away from downtown.

Clean and convenient. Friendly and helpful service. Many amenities, including laundromat, very good breakfast, swimming pool, and more.Only 2 downsides:1. There are only 2 very slow elevators, and you can't take the stairs from the rez-de-chaussée level.2. There is only 1 working ice machine. It is on the second floor. This was quite annoying given my point 1 above when my room was on the 5th floor

It's disappointing, we learned on the spot that the restaurant of the hotel is closed on weekends, there is the restaurant Lionel" which is attached to it but it does not open before 9 o'clock
