Backus Heritage Conservation Area

Wonderful place with lots of hiking, activities and history. All old growth forests and rare incredible species.Great place for kids.

We went to Long Point conservation for camping and beach but it was full so we tried to just try here in Backus and we ended up in this very beautiful camp site. The staff are very polite and friendly. The surroundings are very calm and beautiful. The facilities are available such as wide and spacious shower, washroom which is very clean and there is swimming pool too. Lovely experience which makes me give this of 10 out of 10.

Great place for a family to have fun with kids. Long point Beach is so near by to go visit as well.. we spent two nights and 2 days.. the bathrooms are private and they are clean. Overall a great spot to spend. Campsites are big and spacious too.. i highly recommend this place.

If I could give a zero I certainly would, my girlfriend and I spent three days but paid for four nights we were harassed at 5:00 PM one hour after we arrived to turn down our music which was at at three! Apparently people beside us did not like to hear music, currently the entire park no one played music but you are allowed to play music quiet time is from 11 PM to 8 AM in the morning we walked on pins and needles the first evening we are 60 years old to old ladies, we kept our music at the very minimum we could hear the whole park talking not even our music and we got a second warning at 8 AM the following morning that our music was too loud it was ridiculous to say the least! Officer Lahey which we nicknamed (park ranger) was very ignorant with us and would not even listen to our side, so therefore we remained on pins and needles for three days and three nights things started to disappear one at a time from our tables outside overnight, this is the most boring park I have ever experienced, The bathrooms were disgusting! , The pool is disgusting you could not even see through the water it was not even big enough to accommodate a quarter of the park, let alone 10 children that were overtaking it. We asked for a refund on our last day there we booked out before noon which you were supposed to and expressed how unhappy we were the whole time! They said that they would contact me through email but I’ve been home for three days now and not one email from them! Stay away from this park if you plan on playing any music or any radio or any TV whatsoever you will be casted out!!

We love this campground ⛺️ lots of nice places to explore and great activities. We love how big the sites are, this is our main place to camp.

Love this place been going here for 30 years+ now just wish it was like it was before with the village open and accessible. There's just nothing to do here anymore

Simply the best, been going here since I was a little girl.

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid! Now I’m 39 with my own kids. I recently came back for memories sake and my kids loved it! All the staff here are so nice & accommodating. All the facilities are clean, pool still the same. I just miss the one general store that use to sell candy, I heard it’s no longer open

This is the best park in The Long Point Conservation Authority lineup but we were deeply disappointed that the heritage village was not open this Thanksgiving weekend. COVID is under control and you would think the board would have taken the opportunity to make up some lost revenue and share some Thanksgiving education opportunities of days gone by. The skeleton staff were amazing but seemed very busy.
