Grand River Hospital

Grew up in KW and never had a bad experience until Wednesday night. I was 11 weeks pregnant and was in severe pain not just a little cramping I was in so much pain I was on the ER floor crying. My husband had to go tell triage my symptoms had changed and I was now experiencing vomiting and my pain had worsened. I spent 4 hours in fetal position on the ER floor and all they could offer me was Tylenol. We got there at 11 and left at 8 am when I doctor finally came to see me. No nurses checked on me in my room the entire night. They were all rude and inconsiderate of my pain. I can not believe the way I was treated.

The nurses were really emotionally and physically present with us all the time during our time here. It was really nice to have such a strong support from they and when they had to share the facts with us. But the only problem was the air conditioning was extremely bad, it was severely cold and even the nurses themselves acknowledged the same.

I've had only great experiences. All 3 of my kids were born here. The nurses in the triage and maternity ward were very experienced. My wife and child were in very good hands. The rooms are very accommodating for the supporting partner. Thank you very much to all the staff. I'm so grateful.

I would give the mental health emergency department 0 stars if I could.I was admitted to this hospital and the treatment provided was unprofessional and unkind. When I arrived at the hospital, one of the nurses proceeded to criticize me behind my back with another paramedic in a very loud voice (she was right in front of me). They had thought I lied about my circumstances when really they misunderstood. This nurse mentioned that she hates patients who say different things to the paramedics and then to the nurses" even though I had not done that at all. She proceeded to ask me to fully undress to monitor my heart. I said that I was not comfortable with that

The nurses and doctors and and the physio staff were truly a blessing in my dads recovery. My dad was on 6 North and all the staff work super hard and they were all so very kind and attentive to all dads needs. It’s really takes a special person to work on such a busy floor. Thank you for all your kindness and support!!

Where should I even begin.The staff in Pediatric were absolutely phenomenal today, my daughter had the most absolutely wonderful experience today after her surgery. Thank you to Ashley for being an incredible Nurse to our daughter. You made her feel so comfortable and safe in your care. She went on how amazing you were after we left and how great her stay was, so thank you so very much. All of the staff in that department were incredible. Also to the Nurse in recovery who took care of our daughter after surgery. A huge thank you for being so kind and wonderful with her. All together we had such a wonderful experience today and were super blessed to have you all there helping us today. And a huge shout out to the incredible surgeon we had. Thank you all so much ❤️

I am very grateful for the incredibly kind, supportive and compassionate care I received from the hospital during a very difficult time. The nurses especially were thorough, friendly and advocates for me. The physiotherapists were helpful and gave me strategies to manage. The cleaning staff have an incredibly hard job. They are all doing phenomenally difficult work in times when their lunch breaks are cut in half, vacations are being turned down and many are working massive overtime shifts. Thank you, even though the system is broken, for doing your best to provide exceptional care. The wait times and availability problems are government funding issues, not individual ones.

I had my baby at GRH in February. All the doctors and nurses involved in my delivery and postpartum care were very nice. I especially want to thank nurse Neema (I hope I got the spelling right from my faint memory of reading the embroidery on her sleeve). I was induced, and halfway through the night, the epidural stopped working. Neema held my hands. Her gentle touch and soft voice helped me get through the toughest moments. I could feel that she truly cares about her patients. Thank you, Neema. My baby will soon be 5 months old, and she is happy and healthy.

Yesterday, June 26th 2023 I went to emergency at GR for what I thought was a sprained ankle. The team of nurses and doctors are so amazing and made me comfortable and got me though fast for X rays and to see a doctor. I ended up breaking my ankle…The flow of patients was great and everyone had a smile on their face :) Thanks GRH for a positive emergency experience!
