Mad Mexican Restaurant
Ive been to this restaurant a couple of times in pre-pandemic days and really enjoyed my meals at Mad Mexican before. I also remember them being quite busy. I tried to reserve a table for two for Sunday 7:30pm . I began calling at 6pm and three times my calls went unanswered. My friend and I decided to go anyway and the place was EMPTY. I arrived first and even though multiple staff were on floor no one really acknowledged me for good minute as I stood at the front waiting to be seated. I was even asked if I had a reservation…. Again, the place did not even have a single patron when I got there at 735pm. Once seated I asked to be moved twice due to finding different areas of the restaurant very cold (side note, in a corner nook near the kitchen there was a table that hadn’t been cleaned after someone had left clearly before I even got there because there was no one when I arrived so not sure how long they didn’t clear the table, I didn’t bother to check during my stay to see if it was cleaned after that point but odd considering they were not busy and they had multiple staff on floor). Our server was friendly but seemed unsure/inexperienced as he wasn’t able to answer most of our questions about the menu. Food arrived and everything was mediocre at best (definitely not how I remembered my previous visits). Very disappointing. Portions are big but still pricy considering the taste. The restaurant was extremely cold and not cozy. One of their doors (right one facing the resto from outside) couldn’t close all the way so when people came in to pick up food the door wouldn’t shut afterwards. They should put a sign so it’s not used as they have another door just next to it that’s fine.Guac was excellent but the accompanying chips were WAY TOO SALTY and tiny tiny pieces it almost felt like they emptied an old bag of chips (think leftover little chips with lots of salt crumbs)Fish tacos lacked flavour big time…, it was quite watery from the trimmings and even though there was some creamy sauce there was zero flavour (at most I tasted raw cabbage and cilantro) and the dish wasn’t crispy.Braised pork dish was ok… the texture of the corn tortilla bothered me, this is a preference thing. The shell was hard and chewy in parts, I would have enjoyed this more if it was made with flour tortillas.Churros came out nice and warm but as soon as you pick them up they crumbled and broke apart. They were also very greasy (you can tell from just looking at them) and when you bite into them you can taste and feel the oil in your mouth. Not how I want to finish off my meal.I’m afraid I won’t be recommending or returning to this resto after my latest experience.

Great ambiance and great staff, especially Mariana! The food is delicious, but a little on the pricier side. They also have a little Supermarket at the back where you can buy all sorts of different things, from Latin-inspired groceries, to alcohol and some food items that are made in-house!

Loved it! We went with a large group and the service was excellent. We shared some things at the table so got to try the nachos, guacamole and chips, and Mexican street corn — all delicious. We had three types of tacos and each one was delicious and unique in its own way. The salsas on the table were excellent and best of all, they have a little shop at the back so you can take a few things home, too. Great place for a brunch get-together.

A nice local restaurant for mexican food in the area. The cocktails are excellent as the flavours and alcohol were well balanced. Although the food is a bit on the pricier side, the food was overall delicious. I recommend the shrimp tacos as it had good textures and ingredients layered in.

Overpriced 3 tacos 23 dollars…smaller portions than expected, small piece of fish. Bit disappointed, flavour is good. But 3 tacos not enough for 1 reg. person.

We came in just before 8pm, the restaurant closes at 9pm. We ordered quickly bc we were informed the kitchen would be closing right away. The steak taco was very flavorful, but there was too much cilantro. The margaritas were delicious. I ordered corn as a side and so did my daughter and I was charged for both but never received them. I was refunded, but I would have preferred to have the corn.

Nice find in west Toronto . Interesting street patio. Reservations recommended since popular spot with locals. Very nice artwork to keep the conversation going. Service was average. Tacos were authentically good.

Disappointed! Overpriced, small portions.Guacamole appetizer was the best bite of the night.Burrito dinner was not worth the money. For $23 all you got was a burrito and a tiny scoop of bean salad. Should have been served with rice, refried beans, pico de gallo, sour cream, etc.Tortilla soup would have been good if they didn’t add chicharron (fried pork rinds) to it. I’ve had tortilla soup many times but never with chicharron. It totally threw off the taste of the soup.$8 overpriced fish taco was not worth the money. Piece of fish was so small it wasn’t proportionate to the small tortilla. Lacked seasoning - was very bland.Service was painfully slow. Waiter was not at all attentive. Barely checked in on us. It took forever for our table to be cleared after we finished eating.I won’t be returning and don’t recommend eating here.

Ordered the chef's special. All the food was fresh and delicious. My favorite was the tuna tostada. I really enjoyed the Mexican Basque Cheesecake as well, and my girlfriend loves the guacamole. I ordered the mojito and that was fantastic as well. Will definitely return.

Loved the meals at Mad Mexican. We had the Queso Fundido, freshly made guacamole and house made blue corn nacho chips. For our meals, we ordered the Fajito tacos (1 with bbq chicken and 1 with flatiron steak), ensenada style fish tacos and 2 orders of rojas con carnitas (pork shoulder) enchiladas. We purposely left room for dessert and got 2 orders of the churros and tres leches (traditional Mexican sponge cake). There's a little store in the back if you wanted to take home some of their menu items such as guacamole and home made nacho chips. Nice ambience with Mexican decor and felt cozy.
