LEASEE BEWARE. Be very wary about entering a life lease with Lions Village of Greater Edmonton Society. The management at the Riverside location is extremely poor. They do not address residents' concerns in a timely manner and do not respond to emails.When our family member vacated the suite, we had to hound the organization to get our loan repayment. When we did receive it, Lions withheld $5000 with NO justification or proof of the costs. They did not reply to our request for this information. There is no protection for the Leasee as there is little to no legislation for life leases.Life leases seem ideal at the beginning but there are many issues when ending the contract. Illness or death are often reasons tenants end the contract and we felt taken advantage of during a stressful time for our family. This truly is a David vs. Goliath situation. Get a lawyer to read any contract before you sign it and do your research! Shame on you Lions!Response to Owners comments:Your response must be mistaken for someone else and sadly just reignites the frustration we have experienced with Lions. We have not received explanation for the money that was withheld. We have no idea what you are talking about with respect to 'packing tape'??? And, mostly, we sent a letter to the Board in November 2022 and have yet to receive a response. As the months go on, our belief and trust that Lion's will provide a response has been diminished.
