If you are in Cambridge with kids, don't miss visiting Cambridge Museum of Technology.Informative. Good location. Kids-friendly. You can touch and operate some of the presented items. It's a small museum. We spent their 1 hour and liked the experience.

We had quite some fun there with our 2 years old. Several buttons to press and big old machines kept him busy for about two hours. They also have an activity corner to play with small pumps and water - but the water was not super clean. For adults, this is interesting as well and provides manifold information about history of sewage. There was an exhibition with old scanning microscope, telephones and other. The only issue was to park our bikes. We could not find a bicycle park and we had to go a bit after the museums, under the bridge, for that.Overall, would recommend a visit

Cambridge Museum of Technology holds an extensive collection of steam, gas and electric pumps. Formerly the local sewage works, the Museum tells the Industrial history of the city. Plus a very interesting exhibition of the high technology company Pye. TV, radar and mobile phones from the 1940s. Great.

Beautiful museum taking about the technology relevant to Cambridge. Wish that it advertised the fact there was a second exhibition on site. Both equally interesting and enjoyable and a happy surprise when I started to explore the second one. A lot of interactive segments for both adults and children.

Unbelievable local museum. It’s by no means as high tech and Spick and span as the bigger London museums, but that’s precisely what’s great about it.So many cool old items that you can interact with, and it’s got the two massive steam engine pumps still in their original location so you really get a feel for what it was like there and interact with the tools they used and the environment they worked in.Takes around an hour and a half to have a look round it all. They also host local groups there and Both times I’ve been there I’ve been lucky enough to bump into some of them to chat about what they were doing. A gang fixing their steam engine the first time and a couple doing prints in the print room the next time.Very quiet both times I’ve been, both on weekends.Beautiful setting and amazing cafe and bar just outside too.

So interesting, loved the fact that the engines were steam driven. The Pye exhibition was fascinating, the volunteer there was knowledgeable and interesting, having worked at Pye.

Really disappointed. A steam event was advertised on Tripadvisor. Came on the way to stay in Cambridge for the day. Partner is an engineer and sounded like something he would have enjoyed very much! Everything was closed, not even any toilet facilities. The Cafe wasn’t at all interested or helpful in any way…I’m disabled and have a few mobility issues. This is not accessible for anyone who strudels with walking

Excellent little museum by the river in Cambridge. Suitable for children & adults, especially any engineers. Hands-on things for the kids to enjoy, including finding the hidden rats! Well restored equipment from this old pumping station, plus a new section following the history of the Pye Company. Nice little coffee shop and an outdoor bar.

It's ok. Good price and do have some interesting stuff. You can try old typing machines and some water pumps. Coffee shop on a site too. Free water for visitors and a bowl of water for puppies. It's just smaller then I thought and some parts was hard to get with a pushchair and toddler.

Reasonably priced tickets, lots to see and read. Good for older children. Unfortunately some areas were closed as were the toilets.
