Minden 50's Diner Café
We have been frequenting the Minden 50's Diner for quite some time, was there on Saturday and things have changed. The server was overwhelmed, tables were not cleared and the food was very slow coming out and was not what it used to be. Hopefully things will improve over time as the 50s diner has always been a great restaurant in town."

Worst service I have experienced in my life. I don't ever complain. But after waiting a 1hr and 15 min for bacon and eggs I walked out. Asked for a spoon to stir tea, didn't come back with one, had to get up and get my own. Had to get my own menus after waiting for 10 min. After a hr of waiting for food, asked how much longer the wait would be, she said they were plating it. 15 min later still no food. Glad there is a DQ next store. Got a burger and fries in 8 min. Will never return here, but I recommend DQ.

The servers were accommodating but the overall service was painfully slow. We arrived at 12:30 noon for lunch, didn't get food even by 1:45pm. We decided to leave with the family to order food from DQ next door. The restaurant was extremely hot without a/c and poor air circulation. Does not recommend for visit.

Went with a family of 10 for lunch on 5 July. The food and service were reasonable and served in a timely way. Caesar salad tasted more like mayo than Caesar dressing but overall the BLT, poutines, and fish and chips were decent. The restaurant was very hot and stuffy with no air conditioning - maybe a relic from the 50s???The problems started after the meal. We packed up the poutines to eat later and found a stone in it which my son chewed on and almost broke his tooth. I went back the next day to give them the poutine and show them the stone. When I arrived, I approached the waitress who served us the day before and she was immediately dismissive when I told her what had happened. I let her know that I wasn’t there for any compensation but just to let them know. She insisted that it didn’t come from their kitchen and that it must have been our fault that the stone got in there. While we were sure there was no way it could have gotten in there after we left, it was too late to prove otherwise. That said, I was surprised and disappointed that she was immediately dismissive and didn’t apologise - it was just an immediate defensive and dismissive exchange.I met up with the owner later at the DQ next door. He listened to my concerns and was genuinely sincere in his apology and offered to make things right which was appreciated. Again, we weren’t looking for anything, but just wanted them to know what had happened, to be heard and validated. The manager did this well but the staff didn’t.

Stopped in on our way home on Victoria Day. A full hour after ordering we still didn’t have our food. Kept hearing one excuse after another. Had our hungry 6 year old with us. Seemed like a cute place but unfortunately we can’t recommend it to anyone based on the horrible service we received. I’d recommend going elsewhere.

My food was barely warm. it took 1 hour for my hamburger and fries to get out they told me they had 1 cook which is hilarious because the summer is coming up what are you gonna do then?!?!. new ownership is in shambles wouldn't recommend!

Other than missing the juke box controllers at every table, it lives up to it's name. Service is cheerful, and breakfast is served all day. Things are a bit slow when it's busy.

We went there twice over 3 days. Dinner the first time - we arrived at 530 and there were 3 other groups seated already (1 right before we arrived) and then it quickly filled up. She promptly took our orders but it was a bit slow coming out. We ordered a Caesar side salad (delicious), penned Alfredo (tasty, large serving that we brought most of in a take away container, kids penned with butter and cheese - this wasn't very good as the noodles didn't seem cooked enough. Poutine was good, chicken Caesar wrap was enjoyed as was my BLT (I asked for an added fried egg into the sandwich and it was really good). Some other reviewer said they were shorted on bacon, I had plenty and it was real bacon not the microwave type.I enjoyed the fries that were on the side too. The only real downside was the wait time to get the food, our takeaway Container and the bill - I attribute that to the lone waitress not having another person helping out as it was quick busy - waitress was great, just needed another one helping out so it wasn't all on her shoulders.Breakfast today, not as busy this morning, everything was pretty quick - only downside was there was no steak that hubby was hoping to order (steak and eggs) so he got the grand slam breakfast platter which he enjoyed. Two of us ordered French toast (delicious!) 1 plate of pancakes (3 HUGE!) and a kids pancake (1 HUGE!) with a sausage that we asked to change to bacon which was no problem. Wished all of the breakfast items were available all day.

Minden 50's Diner Café
I stopped in to the diner on the weekend following a cottage trip and it was the perfect place to sit for a burger. My servers name was Krystin (I think that’s how you spell it?) and she was attentive and you could tell she was respectful and really cared about what she was doing. The food was great too! I’d recommend the burger and fries for sure! We’d definitely come back!

The service was slow, yet the place wasn't busy. Luckily we were not in a particular hurry. One of us had the breakfast with pancake and it was very good. Staff were friendly.There is a small deck/patio which is not usable but wasn't cordoned off. pity. It would be a useful outdoor space for people traveling with dogs who come off the highway and want to be able to monitor their pet. Hopefully it can be repaired soon. (July2023)
