Gloucester Boarding Kennels

Been taking my dogs there for years.Not one complaint and the dogs are well taken care of and excited once we pull into the Laneway.

We were desperate to find a cat boarding service that offered airport pickup services. As we had to ship our old cat from Winnipeg to Ottawa. Then we found Gloucester kennels. They quickly replied to my booking request I submitted online through their website, and they reassure me that my pet would be picked up from the airport as they have been in the business for a while. Moreover, they were able to accommodate my cat's special food requirements, as he suffers from stage 2 renal dysfunction. For a small fee, they ordered and picked up the required food from the veterinarian. Overall, they were a godsend to us during our relocation process, as it avoided us from having to ferry him in the car for 5 days. After having visited their facilities, let me reassure you that your pet will be extremely comfortable and well taken care of. I definitely recommend this place for your pet boarding needs. Pre-COVID was a great establishment. Clean, good to the pets and very reasonable hours.Now… Fees have gone up while service and accessibility have diminished majorly.Presently, only 2 hours per day for pick up or drop off (no reasonable respect for clients’ time or commitments). Contrary to the website, owner will NOT make an appointment for pick up or drop offs. In fact, responded, “no, not really” when asked about “by appointment”. In others words if you are unable to be there for the whopping 2 hours a day they are open, forget it!So much for providing a service with reasonable access. Evidently, they don’t care. Very sad to see this business going downhill quickly with so little respect for a loyal clientele.

Best place to bring your dogs! I always know when my animals are here they are being not only cared for properly but the staff go above and beyond to make sure they feel at home! They also take non stop pictures, I feel like I'm always with them when we leave for 10 days! In my opinion this is the best kennel in Ottawa! Keep up the good work!!!:)!

Picked my dog up from the May long weekend 2022 after the big storm. They take such good care of my dog and he really loves it there! Came back home happy and exhausted. Another five stars! Thanks so much again.

I have been bringing my dog(s) to this kennel since 1989! I have used their services for stays of days and sometimes weeks as my job relied on travel. I know when my dog is there I have no worries...always well cared for and always happy. Professional facility with owners who know dogs so well. Highly recommend.

I used the cat boarding service for my two cats(brothers).They were there for 18 days in a presidential suite. The room" is very spacious

I left my Frenchie here for almost 2 weeks based on the (mostly) good reviews I read here. My honest opinion was that the care seemed to be standard for a kennel. My dog was not dirty or overly distressed upon picking him up, he did smell and so did the building but that is to be expected in most dog kennels.However, when arriving at the early pick up time the owner’s left a notice that all appointments for the day were cancelled with no further explanation and no notice by call or email. I waited trying to contact someone for almost 3 hours. All the lights were off and there were no signs of anyone on the property the whole time I was there. When I finally received a call back, after being worried about my dog for hours, the owner’s attempted to blame me by saying I was supposed to pick up the day prior (admittedly could have just been a misunderstanding, although I believe I was clear on the pick up date). They further did not care to call me on their assumed pick up date to check in and see where I was. They additionally tried to charge me for the extra day when I was finally able to go for a pick up at 4 after leaving multiple messages. The staff person working actually laughed at me when I explained how worried I was about my dog. Any pet owner would have been worried and stressed in that circumstance and I was mocked for it. Overall, Zeus was ok but the service I received from the staff was unprofessional and unacceptable. The lack of communication is concerning, I understand urgent situations arise but this was a case of just not properly communicating with clients. Better service overall can be found at other boarding services in the Ottawa area.

I would not recommend this kennel. My dog was boarded for the long weekend in July/Aug. I only needed her to be kenneled from Friday to Sunday - but they have this rule that you can't pick up your dog until Tuesday for the long weekend as Monday was a holiday.Drop off: There's a very short window to drop off and pickup between 8-9am or 4-5pm- we had to wait 20 min at reception at 8am before anyone could take my dog at drop off.Staff: The staff were not very friendly to humans (I hoped they were kinder to the animals) and I was met with indignation when I asked if it were possible to pick my dog up early (Sunday or Monday). It seemed a weird concept to them to offer good customer service. They are a business after all.Pickup: Pickup went well, my dog was dirty but that was expected and she seemed happy to see us and otherwise unharmed despite the fact that she was being held hostage for an extra 2 days at this place. BUT when we got home we realized she had developed a urinary tract infection (UTI) so off to the vet we go tomorrow. This kennel will now cost me more than I expected to pay if you include my upcoming vet bills.DO NOT RECOMMEND
