Waited 9 1/2 hours in the emergency room area to get stitches. I got out at 3am. The hospital staff knows there's a problem and they know the average wait on any given day, and yet, they pretend they don't know anything. I think they should alert the patients of the expected wait times, especially with those parents with babies/toddlers as the patients. So many people left after waiting 5-6 hours, realizing the the waiting line is not moving and the staff is not being very helpful. It was the most unpleasant experience at the hospital.

During what was for me a scary and stressful visit to the ER, the staff were wonderfully calm, helpful, friendly, reassuring, and knowledgeable. They were professional and caring, and I can't thank them enough. We've had reason to go to the Guelph General ER several times over the years, and our experience has been consistently positive. Thank you, health workers, for what you do and how you do it. You're awesome.

Let’s start this off by saying it is a small hospital, that is extremely short staffed and overwhelmed. The wait time to get from the triage nurse in to see an ER doctor is 4+ hours. Once you finally get to see an ER doctor, your time with them is very short. My experience was not great. I really had to advocate for myself in terms of what I needed/wanted from this visit. On top of that, the doctor was supposed to make other arrangements for X-rays/ultra sounds and to expect a call for the next morning. The next morning came and went. Do you think the call came?It is very frustrating. I understand that the doctors and nurses are still recovering from the stress of Covid, but so are the patients. There were a ton of elderly patients waiting, and nothing seems to be a “rush”.The government really needs to get involved and do something about our health care system. We are in a scary place - short on nurses and short on doctors. They are playing with people’s lives here.Truthfully, I would have rather driven an hour to Toronto. The drive, plus the wait time, plus the care, plus the drive back would have been faster than the experience at the Guelph hospital.

This past week I had chest pain and an erratic heartbeat. I had already had a heart attack eight years ago so I went to the GGH ER. Wasn’t sure if I should go but the cemeteries are full of people who said “ah, it’s nothing” so I went. The care I received was exemplary. They took my concerns very serious. They were fast and efficient. Specifically Carly & Michelle, the triage nurses, very professional and kind. I don’t understand how these women, men, Doctors, Nurses are able to do such an amazing job, every day, with the minimal resources and low wages they are given. I couldn’t. I am thankful that we have them. Most of us could not imagine what they deal with every day. They deserve our respect.P.S. My heart attack. Eight years ago.Guelph General Hospital ER saved my life.

I’ve never had a bad experience at GGH, and I’ve lived in Guelph my whole life. The Nurses, Doctors, and other members of the health care teams have always been amazing with myself and my family (specifically the ER, ICU and Birthing Unit). I can’t say enough positive things about those amazing individuals! ♥️

I gave birth (birthing ward/unit) here. I had such an amazing nurses & the doctors. I was in the special care unit with my newborn it’s pretty amazing, all the nurses in all 2 shifts were accommodating, and they are a small hospital. They don’t have a lot of spaces but! The experience I had was good. No complains just maybe make Tim hortons be available in longer time they close at like 7pm.

I accidentally inhaled a metal blister pack for a pill. Not one person believed my story. I fell sleep and they left me. No exam. No doctor. They discharged me when I woke up but they stole that expensive medication from me and wouldn’t give it back. At one point I couldn’t breathe so I yelled “help” not one single person even looked at me. I was ignored when I needed help. When they discharged me I was freezing cold. What do they do ? Ignore me and escort me to the exit outside. Then they wouldn’t let me back in. This hospital and every nurse is pathetic and miserable.

Went to this hospital because I had a really painful neck and upper back. While there I had met a lot of staff. Emergency staff, security staff, nurses, xray technicians and a doctor. Hope I didn't forget anyone. I have to admit, not that I am a regular at hospitals but I have been many times for family members and for then to many different hospitals in many different cities. I have to say that every single person I came into contact with at this hospital were nothing short of amazing! Everyone was very pleasant to deal with and even though not my happy place, this helped make it easier for me. Thanks so much!Lisa

I only saw one Dr in emergency and because of this particular Dr am giving 5 stars. Dr Yvonne Wildenhain is FANTASTIC, VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND SUPER CARING! for this particular Dr I give her 10* stars. Guelph hospital is very lucky to have her. Truly dedicated Dr. I wish she had her own practice. She helped me in emergency and I am extremely thankful for the care she provided Aneta B.

The amount of people who go in and never leave is astonishing.. the doctors here believe they are psychic, and come to outcomes without proper diagnosis. I watched nurses ignore my mother in the icu on multiple occasions. The bedside manner displayed by 80% of the nurses was offensive and disrespectful. How are you laughing and giggling about a dying woman in front of her family?? This hospital is a joke and definitely gives actual hard working nurses, and doctors a bad name. Dr. SOLA should be investigated, and the abhorrent treatment of dying people should be looked into.
