The Franklin Hotel

Our favourite restaurant, ASA sushi is now located in this hotel and we ate there for dinner. The new spot is beautiful and the service is fast. Anyone who's staying at the hotel will be able to get a late night sushi treat as they are open until 3-4am most nights.

Decent overall and good price. Great location.With that said, the balcony was not great and the room was quite small.Note this is a self-serve hotel so the owner texts you a pin code and instructions.I did see some water in washroom that was leaking from toilet, but very minor.

The owner is super nice checking time is 3pm I arrived at 1:15pm and he checked me in right away. Not having a counter at 24/7 wasn't a big deal to me as I was out and about most of the day. The room was modern and nice plus my back terrace was excellent. If you are looking for a place with a terrace ask for room 304 or 305. No elevator but the hotel only have 3 floors. The location is amazing specially if you like to be close to bars, restaurants, boat trip, water market, the harbor, stores. Is hard to find a convenient store or super market in downtown so if you have a chance to stop by a place before to buy water and snack I recommend you to do so. The last day of my stay the owner and I sit and talk a little bit about the city and the good times to visit ( August). He is renovating and will have employees in the bar restaurant and cafe from 7:30am till 11pm at all times.If you are looking for a nice place that is close to many attractions this is the place

Very central location, but overall I felt that this hotel was just a place to crash for the night. All the main shops, pubs, and restaurants are all right outside the front door. The hotel is right above a tacos and tequila restaurant, but we couldn't hear any street noise from our room even on a busy Regatta night. We were disappointed by the lack of decor. Shower had poor pressure and the AC was struggling. Also, there was no onsite staff and no front desk. We communicated to the manager through text. The cleaning services left us clean towels and other necessities outside of our room in a plastic bag while we were out. It felt off-putting.

We visited ASA Sushi at the hotel. The food was great and the service was prompt. The sushi is made in the same spot as the dining area so you could see/smell the sushi being prepared. There was a wide selection to choose from on the menu and it was all very reasonably priced. We would return again!

Stayed here for a couple nights for a wedding, check in was simple and no hassle (no front desk, I was able to go straight to my room). Room was spacious, clean. Bed was excellent, showers were large with option for a regular or rain style shower. Balcony was a plus, even though I faced a parkade it had the benefit of being quiet in my room. Wifi works well. All in all I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting St. John’s.

Nice hotel with a very good price. The sheets were a bit dirty when we got in. I think it was actually laundry powder, but it made the bed a bit gritty. The balcony was nice to have, and I loved the shower. The water pressure was also great. We had a few issues with our room keys but the hotel staff were always super responsive to getting them fixed. I would stay again for sure.

Price was the best I found for St Johns at this time of year. I've stayed here before several times in the past. I think ownership has recently changed hands. I've never had an issue staying here. They text you a check in code. You don't get to meet any hotel staff, if that's, what you want. It's all done thru text. No waiting to check in is what I like. Room (303) was very clean. Free underground parking is awesome for downtown area. You get a parking -pass in your lock box. Bedding and towels good. Free coffee and cream. Appliances, cups , mugs etc. all looked new (2023). Felt like I was first to use the Kettle / Coffee Carafe. Mini fridge had cream in it, and we stored our own drinks there too.Local East Coast Glow (soaps & shampoo) is a great touch - said my wife. There is a selection of drinks, snacks in the hallway. Not sure how it worked, payment wise, so we did not touch it. No info how to use remote for heater, so could not adjust room temp. Didn't ruin our night. Close to many local eateries & pubs and 10 minutes walk from George street on the main drag. Did not hear a sound in the hotel for from the street. Wife absolutely loved it. That's the all important factor. Will be staying here again..... Hope they keep prices reasonable.

Had a really great stay here recently, the hotel is under new management and they really couldn't be more friendly and accommodating. The room was a really good size and free WIFI was also a big plus! Check in was easy and everything is contactless and hand sanitiser was available throughout the hotel. I will be staying here again!

Decent accommodations. I say this because the room was large, comfortable and in the heart of downtown St John's. However, for us, the amenities were lacking. No dedicated fron't desk and no maid service. Also no elevator (We knew this ahead of time though). There was noise from the basement (sound mixing or something). Also, the smell of cigarette smoke was strong outside our door. The location was great in downtown St John's but the parking was not. The service at the Franklin was very good. When we checked in everything was ready. The front desk" was located in the Sushi joint on main floor. Not a huge deal but just not what we are used to. The room was large and in decent shape.
